Fuel Pump Blues...

Ok so I had my 1st fuel pump go out last weekend, I ordered a new walbro with the wire harness kit from racetronix, got it in the shop today for the mechanic, he hooked it up to the new wiring harness kit and he says he can hear it turning on (pump) but not functioning, my question is am I really this unlucky with this 2nd pump or is there something else that could be causing this? I really don't want to go with an oem pump unless its necessary at this point, but he's insisting that's the solution at this point since he cannot get it running.

I callled Racetronix and they said if its turning on it should be functioning i'm at a loss here any suggestions? :squint:

By 'not functioning' presumably your mechanic is not seeing sufficient fuel pressure (40+ psi) on the rail. Or is it that it just won't turn over...important to understand the symptom.

A fuel leak should be obvious...Maybe a very dirty gas filter - or a new one installed backwards.

Make sure he did not re use the pulsator, you need to install the rubber hose that came with the fuel pump that takes the place of it.

I just called them up and they said he's working on it atm they said racetronix said to reverse the polarity on the pump? that's all I know atm but I did tell the desk jockey to pass your info to the mechanic about the pulsator, ty for the replies.

Problem resolved! 1830 running again! fuel pump connector polarity had to be reversed.

I was wondering if your mechanic reused the pulsator. This is one of the jobs I will be getting around to. I hadn't picked up that there was a pulsator fitted that had to be removed, but it probably makes sense, I know it was on early C4 vettes. Is that the way to go when fitting a Walbro to a Ty?
