Fuel Pump Discussion

I thought that I would resurrect a few older threads in order to see where people are at today. I am looking at <700hp at the crank with <30psi of boost and am going over my options for fuel delivery. I think that there are some new options available and some options like dual pumps have been tested for some time since these were previously posted.

1. Does a "Boost-a-Pump" make sense regardless of the solution?
2. Would the new Aeromotive support what I need by itself?

3. Has anyone actually had issues with a double pump setup?
4. Are there any advantages/disadvantages to a double pump setup even if I don't have the horsepower requirement.

Re: Fuel Pump Discussion

I think it must be a big advantage to have the second pump to start when required e.g. 70% at throttle, or activated by a set pressure, I would go for the throttle position since the BS3 got this feature, the drawback to have two pump running at all time would be extra heat to the fuel, same problem with a big one unit fuel pump as well. I don't know if I realy need a duel pump setup at the moment, we'll see how much the wallbro can keep up with.
Looking forward to have some good info on this.

Re: Fuel Pump Discussion

I run a Weldon with the Aeromotive controller. I had the A1000 and it never acted right from the get go. Some days it just would run unless you tapped on it with something. I know a couple other guys who have had the same issues. We put dual in tank Walbros in Abe's Ty and they work great. The only thing that makes me nervous is if one pump could go bad while in the middle of a run but, I suppose that could happen with any set up. Personally, I like the fact I don't have to drop my tank anymore to do fuel pump work.

Re: Fuel Pump Discussion

I still have an ATR double pump setup which is no longer available. Basically two high output pumps with one running all the time and the second one coming on around 10psi. Has always been rock solid as far as performance. The only disadvantage is that it is still prone to the fuel-slosh problem since it uses a hanger in the stock location.

I have all the parts to convert to an external setup using a magnafuel pump and sumped tank, just haven't got around to it. From what I researched, the bosch, weldon, or magnafuel external pumps are all very good.
