Fuel Pump

Guy,s
How far will an intake areomotive 340 take a syclone down two? I am just about ready to get the truck into the shop and start the build up. I will start with a 62/65 BB water cooled turbo and then try a 64/66 BB turbo. Both setups will be using 80 lbs injectors.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: Fuel Pump

According to the chart here http://aeromotiveinc.com/340-stealth/ you will have about 250 or 275 LPH at less than 70 PSI. Remember the regulator increases PSI for every pound of boost. Base of about 45 +20 to 25 lbs is 65 to 70. This would be pushing pretty hard. You don't give us a lot of info so,some of this is guessing.
According to this calculator http://convert-to.com/conversion/flow/convert-l-per-hr-flow-to-lb-per-hr-gasoline-flow.html for 480 LB/HR (6 X 80LB/HR injectors) you need 295 LPH to max out the injectors. Now, by the numbers, this pump is a little shy. But the question is, are you going to max out the injectors? 80LB injectors are pretty big. If your boost stays a little lower 15-20 range, you are right on the edge. I don't want to give you a yes or no. I would like to give you the data to make your own decision. Now I am going to list the caveats: I am not a fuel system guru, what I have written seems to make sense. This also assumers that you have wired the pump correctly. As you start to put a hurting on these pumps, they start to draw a bunch more amps. You should really do the boost a pump wiring that uses heavier wire and a relay. This also assumes gasoline. Hopefully this helps.

Re: Fuel Pump

Jeff,
Thanks for the help and I am planning on running 80 lb injectors with an ALKY kit. I was hoping that a single would get it done but I guess not. Bad thing is that my build has got a little bigger than when I started. But that is how it goes. Does anyone need to 255 and a Racetronixs hot wire kit LOL. How much pump will the stock fuel lines support before there is a problem with not getting the head pressure down?
Thanks,
Bob

Re: Fuel Pump

The hotwire kit will be still be viable with any intank pump. Might need to splice a different end. Walbro makes a 450 E85 pump that I am running in my Suby. You should look in to it. Not sure about the lines.

Re: Fuel Pump

Jeff,
Thanks for the help with my fuel issues. I contacted Racetronix and they will/do build a dual pump setup that I am going to try.
Thanks,
Bob
