Tony said it was hollow but has a 5/8 pipe unning through the center to about the bottom. I presume it could be re-routed arround the pipe.

Like I said Jesse, yer crazy

Think about how much time the incoming air would spend the that "cold" area. I doubt it would transfer any heat in those few milliseconds.

So last night, I remove the sway bar, go to pull the CCHE and what do I find? One of Jeff's "Mechanix" gloves is stuck under the radiator. I am considering leaving it there.

As far as the pipe goes... This is something I have wanted to try for sometime. Since getting the alky setup working I have wanted to apply some thoughts passed on to me by Bruce Plecan, who opined alky is enough. Mark Larson's experience with the "hot air"/alky setup confirmed my interest in testing the concept on my truck.
So, what is it like? Spool is nuts of course, and overboost is instant. That makes me richen the mix and add alky, which is not the adjustments needed to go faster. An external wastegate is needed and is what is being installed now. After that is on I will be able to get down to business.
As it sits, the truck feels faster than it ever has, MAT's do rise to the 130 degree mark right now, but I have some thoughts on how to address that. The rubber sleeve that mates the stock turbo to Jeff's big black one wasnt rated for 20 plus psi and split after just a few runs.
So, once I replace the sleeve, and get the external wastegate mounted, testing and tuning will commence.
It may work great, It may not, I'll let ya know...

You think that shit if funny huh?

I wondered who took it. I was doing my inventory off all the tools, putting another coat of wax on all the sockets, and had it narrowed down to you or Mike stealing my glove. Someone applied too much heat to my Tig head and melted it also. GRRR!!!

Daron,

Is this an SMC kit? What kinda pump and jet? How much alky do you plan to introduce into equation?

BTW, Jeff REALLY knows what 2 1/2 inches of rubber looks like. He picked up a rubber sleeve at Home depot that was labeled 2 inches, but swore it was 2 1/2. We got it back to the house and it measured 2 1/2. Not sure I want to hear the story about where he cultivated such a keen eye for things of that size.
FYI, those rubber sleeves are meant to couple PVC pipe (to itself, and to cast iron). Anyways, PVC pipe is measured by I.D. (internal diameter), not O.D., and schedule 40 PVC pipe (the kind most commonly used for home plumbing) has a 1/4" thick sidewall. So, doing the math, you'll see that couplings meant for 2" PVC pipe need to have a 2.5" I.D.

If you search around, you can find 2" couplings (with 2.5" I.D.) that have a stainless steel sleeve wrapped around the whole length. These will hold up to 20 (or more) psi, and are what Bob Galla used to supply with his turbo-to-ic pipe kit. Unfortunately, you may have to go to a plumbing supply store to get them, since the Home Depots around here seem to have stopped carrying them. :x

Yeah it is a SMC kit. The .010 jet wasnt enough, went up to the .015 and got like 2 runs in before the rubber sleeve split. I settled on a pump speed with the .015 jet, at about 2 o'clock.
I plan on introducing as much alky as I can get away with. Not sure how much that is yet.

Ok, thanks Daron. Pls update us with your results, I've something similar in my mind since Mark brought this up...

LMFAO, this is SOOO Jeff, TAKING INVENTORY OF MISSING TOOLS MY ASS !

Reminds me of the weekend BEFORE you came down when I was at Jeff's house and I pulled out a PAIR of those gloves from the same exact location except this time on HIS Typhoon. (he has it ripped apart). When I pulled the pair of gloves from the bowels of his truck he said to me almost the same exact wording !!

LOL

somethings never change...
