So last night, I remove the sway bar, go to pull the CCHE and what do I find? One of Jeff's "Mechanix" gloves is stuck under the radiator. I am considering leaving it there.
As far as the pipe goes... This is something I have wanted to try for sometime. Since getting the alky setup working I have wanted to apply some thoughts passed on to me by Bruce Plecan, who opined alky is enough. Mark Larson's experience with the "hot air"/alky setup confirmed my interest in testing the concept on my truck.
So, what is it like? Spool is nuts of course, and overboost is instant. That makes me richen the mix and add alky, which is not the adjustments needed to go faster. An external wastegate is needed and is what is being installed now. After that is on I will be able to get down to business.
As it sits, the truck feels faster than it ever has, MAT's do rise to the 130 degree mark right now, but I have some thoughts on how to address that. The rubber sleeve that mates the stock turbo to Jeff's big black one wasnt rated for 20 plus psi and split after just a few runs.
So, once I replace the sleeve, and get the external wastegate mounted, testing and tuning will commence.
It may work great, It may not, I'll let ya know...
