We've had a lot of new owners pop in the state lately, so I feel it necessary to have a meet for us all to....er....meet. Looks like it might follow this schedule:

-----------------------------------------------

Date - TBD (some wk-end in the Spring)
Location - My shop, the dyno, and the track
Day 1 - meet at my shop....do some wrenching, take pics, etc.....go out to eat, cruise town, and head to track that night.
Day 2 - meet up again, go to dyno, and go out to eat.

Confirmed Attendees:

Michael Hood - Syclone
John Waller - Typhoon & Syclone
Alvin Kinsey - Syclone
Chris Lee - Syclone
E-Rue - Syclone
Jeff Scott - Typhoon
Jimmy - Typhoon
Brett Anderson - GN & TTA
Scott Kilpatrick - PSD
Greg Harris - Syclone
Al Simmons - Typhoon & Syclone
Jay Levitt - Typhoon
Joey Allen - Typhoon
Jonathon Pope - Syclone
Robert Edwards - Typhoon

Unconfirmed Attendees

Phil Johnson - Syclone (?)
Andy Self - Syclone (?)
Gene Talbert - Typhoon (?)
Joe Flanagan - Syclone (?)
Jack Logan - Typhoon (?)
Clay Marlow - Typhoon (?)
Stan Coleman - Typhoon (?)
Dale Burdett - Syclone (?)
George Johnson III - Typhoon (?)

------------------------------------------------

This is merely in pencil, so gimme some feedback. If your name is up there and you will or won't be interested, lemme know...the Q mark or your name will disappear. Looks like we might have up to 20 SyTys in attendance (not including any FL/SC/NC/TN/AL guys that may show). I need to speak with the track and dyno, so let's try to get a date nailed down sometime soon. There are some local shows around that time as well....if interested we can show up at one.

If you wanna add something, please reply. I'd like to see the ball rolling as I will handle all responsibilties anyways.

BTW, Alvin, myself, and a few others will be meeting at my house Feb. 1st for a wrenching session (coilovers for me, fuel mods for Alvin, chips for others). If you wanna swing by, lemme know (for a food head count). We may head to the track or dyno that day as well.

as date is determined and gets closer, I MAY head down, if it is a 2 day event.... just maybe...

of course that would require the ty to end its life as my tool to hold the jackstands to the garage floor wouldn't it.... :( :( :( :(

I'm leaning towards mid April or mid May, depending on what everyone else wants. Prolly a Friday & Saturday or Saturday & Sunday. There are tracks open Fri, Sat, & Sun around here, but the good thing about Sat & Sun are dyno is open for private sessions on Sat and track is open 12-6 on Sun. The track is in Reynolds, which is halfway back home for those in the ATL area and would justify us hometown guys having to do some traveling of our own  . Of course there are plenty more tracks to choose from, but Reynolds (Silver Dollar Raceway) just laid down a new surface and is one of the few "serious" tracks in our area (next to Commerce & Jackson).

I'll put you on the list Jeff and we can edit it if anything comes up. Lemme know what dates would be good for you.

I looked at the Super Chevy Show calendar and the Commerce, GA date is to be May 30,31 and June 1. For me Savannah is a good little drive. If the meet is down that way I would feel better if I could meet somebody from the north Atlanta area and follow each other in case of problems. Maybe some could be at the SCS, I only live 45 minutes from Commerce and I plan on going anyway. Just giving a suggestion, I really am stoked to be a part of the GAST group and meet everyone.

Updated the list of attendees.

How about I throw out a date of April 4,5,6. That's the first wk-end of the month (about 3 months away) and is 2 weeks before Easter. It will be warm enough for good traction at the track and hopefully still cool enough for decent intake temps. Will have to check with the track and dyno on the dates to see if they jive (no scheduled events, etc...), but I wouldn't think anyone would have a problem with those dates.

Remember, I'm as flexible as rubber on this, so ANY date works for me and ANY schedule works for me. Want it all on one day? Done. Want it on 2 days? Done. Whatever suits ya'll.

Would like to know a head count and tentitive schedule at least 1-2 months before this all goes down for planning and back up events in case of weather, etc....

Please list any suggestions/requests/etc....

April 11,12,13 sounds good to me. Will prolly be a 2 day event so more than likely the 12th & 13th.

As far as overnight staying, there are plenty of hotels within 15-20 min and I myself can put up 4 people for the night. I do have a friend who can get us a good deal on hotels however, so lemme check on that. If it's gonna be a hassle, we may try to make this a one day event, but I hate for someone to hafta drive down in the morning and leave that night if they live 2 states away ya know.....

I'll update with more info asap.

As far as I can tell, it's still on for April 12th-13th. Here's our options:

Since the two tracks we're considering are in Reynolds, GA and Jackson, SC and the two dynos we're considering are in Atlanta, GA and Lexington, SC, we'll hafta decide where we want this to take place. SC is closer for the guys farther North (E, Waller, etc....) and equal distance for my area (me, Chris, Brett, Scott, etc....). With that said, SC would be the most logical location IMO. But, the dyno and track run on the same day in SC (Saturday 12th), so it would hafta be a one day event (I guess we could sit around and BS on Sunday  ).

With that in mind....we could have it in GA. We could go to the dyno on Saturday (ACD in Smyrna), stay the night in ATL, drive down to Reynolds Sunday morn (~2 hr trip), and be there in time to start racing (1-6 IIRC). This would enable us to have a 2 day event, not be rushed @ the dyno, and do some wrenching, eating, etc....

I'm personally not biased one way or the other. I hafta travel either way like everyone else. If I had to cast a vote I would say GA, because it would make it more worthwhile for those traveling, we've been to ACD before and they'd be glad to have us back, Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds just laid down a new track and it hooks hellagood, and afterall it is a GAST meet anyways ain't it? :D

I'm gonna go ahead and put some interest into both locations for our sake so that we won't "get caught with our pants down" if one option falls thru. Please post your preference, and I'll update as soon as I can with more details.
