i apologize if this has been discussed already. i did a few searches, but didn't quite find exactly what i was looking for. I'm having several electricity and gauge issues and i would appreciate any advice i can get as to what might be the cause(s)?
Symptoms:
-oil gauge works very sporadically. half the time it reads zero pressure and engages check gauges light.
-sometimes when i rev it up the rpm needle flips over and rests on the boost gauge. returns to normal position when vehicle is turned off and restarted.
-volt meter drops noticibly when headlights are turned on.
-when h.lights are off and the turn signal is activated, the volt needle moves up and down slightly in conjunction with the turn signal blinking.
-voltage started to drop off while driving today so i turned off lights and any other non-vital electronics. i made it home and let the truck idle for a minute until it died. i tried to restart it, but the battery was dead.
-while driving with the low voltage the speedo was kind of lagging and sort of all over the place.
-i put in a BRAND NEW battery and the voltage doesn't read any higher than just above the line below the halfway point... and reads just below the line when the lights are on.
-not sure if it's related but when i start the ty the rpms usually go to 1500 before settling at 800... and sometimes after it goes down to 800 it will stall out.
what do the educated syty owners think out there? short(s), grounds, alternator?
:bad-word: just getting kind of frustrated cuz i blew almost all my money on the ty, have had it for only a week, and have been spending more time trying to deal with the problems than driving it. The previous owner seemed to take pretty good care of it and is a member of the site so i don't think it's a case of it being improperly cared for.
i may have to take it to a shop, because i don't currently have the resources at hand to find what's wrong and fix it myself.
-Thanks
