Re: got a distributor question.

Can you describe your symptoms when it won't start? Does it turn over? Does it turn over, but just not start? Have you checked your fuel pressure at the fuel rail? When was the last time you changed your cap and rotor?

But if you want to start replacing parts till you get the right one, you can start at the distributor if you like.

Damn Steve, dont start throwing parts at it. Youre going to pay a but load of money for nothing. A bad pickup coil can cause this along with the IGN MOD. Pick up coils rarely go bad. Dont be mad if you put a new dist in there and it doesnt solve your problem. Do like I said, get Datamaster going and buy yourself a FP test gauge, they are $40 at Autozone. Start there before you dump money into parts.

I'm from Redondo Beach... as far as cap and rotor, check em out, is it getting spark? It can only be a couple things.....spark, and fuel,.....I can only assume you've got compression, as it does run sometimes.

Re: got a distributor question.

also
check to see if the heat sink compound between the mounting surface
and the module is still there and gooey. Ive seen it dry up and loose its
heat tranfering properties go away. Also after a lot of years I think some
of the brands seep out eventually.
