Griffin Radiators

well i "might" be starting a GP for griffin radiators, right now im guessing the price will be around 675 to your door, dont quote me on the price but that will be the MOST expensive they will be depending on how many people we get, the guy helping me that has the account with them said they list for $884.50, the reason i posted this here is that if you want a decent discount on griffin products let me know

I am definitly in. How many do we need? Do you know if the fans that come with mccoys a2a will fit the griffen?

Griffin Radiators

We had a GP on those a few years ago, and incredibly I haven't installed mine yet. But a few of the guys who have should be able to say whether they R any good or not.

Yes, it's good.

Some things to consider are:
1. It's a thicker core, so you'll need to do something about the clearance between the stock fan and the radiator.

2. You'll have to modify the stock fan shroud (i tried, but failed) to fit around the radiator.

3. If you go with the dual 11" fans (optional) that they offer, you'll need to make some brackets to mount the radiator. This kit has a HD relay for each fan along with temp switches. The electrical kit for the fans is from Painless Wiring. It is complete & first rate.

4. The dual fans make a very tight fit between the fans & the water pump.

5. Before you buy, make sure the heater outlet is in the right location. Usually they mount it for the std. S10/S15 so you'll run into clearance problems.

6. On trucks w/ ATR headers, the lower radiator hose rests on the x-over. You'll need to modify the hose (splice a short metal section into the hose at this point or use a metal corrigated hose) or it WILL fail. This could be a problem w/ the stock x-over also.

That's all I can think of right now.

Actual performance:
When I ran the truck last, using FAST for the fan control & 160 degree thermostat, the temp wouldn't very more than 10 degrees. This was in May w/ about 75-80 degree temps outside.

John,

The one I got a few years ago has the Oil and other connections just like stock. A bit thicker, so I'm not sure how it's going to mount. Actually, all in all, an outstanding looking piece - real high quality !

It oughta cool a whole lot better. The tanks are all Alum., so alot stronger than stock.

any news ?

I need a radiator, I really liked the one put out by CAS. Well, we all know the story there. My syclone does pretty good in the mid 90's but it was 104 yesterday afternoon. Glad I dont have to drive that lttle bastard all the time.

Get a be cool rad. from jegs, its about 500.00 with out the tranny cooler which is good so there is more room for a air filter 90 at the turbo.
Mine works good, with dual flexalite fans, it runs about 160-170 all the time.

It is a very nice radiator, just as good as all the rest.

right now Im running a the biggest I can fit in there, which is that big b&m one (for the tranny)

What options I think look good to me now though is.

1) Tranny cooler mounted in the rear with a 10" fan. seen it done on a lot of rods and custom trucks and it helps declutter the engine. Some of the new units have a thermal switch built in for the fan. (pretty cool)

2) A monster ass radiator that does is all. (preffered)

I was gonna do the 6AN line but how did you route the line from the tranny up to the radiator did you use the stock routing? Ive used the earl's stuff before on other projects and have melted the inner sleeve getting too close to the exhuast. If I did the big-do-it-all radiator I was gonna use the al line with AN fittings

I just ran the line in the stock kinda location and tied it away from any exhaust, since i dont have ac or ac blower it seemed to create more room to get the lines by the downpipe without being to close, plus the whole downpipe and exhaust pipe is wrapped.
I have the same b/m tranny and oil coolers as you, i just dont think using the radiator ends to cool the tranny and oil for the engine are near enough.

I am looking at the Large Heat Sink Coolers that would be bolted to the outside of the frame, one on each side run in series. They say they work great and have seen a few run in cars with the Street Rod scene.
