Help with Ic pump diagnosis!

Here are my steps in order.

1: Inserted safety pin to aldl, key to start position
2: Iac is chattering, no sign of pump noise or coolant flow after taking ic cap off.
3: Fuse from back of alternator was bad so i replaced it (10amp), still no signs of pump noise.
4: Checked ic pump connectors with test light, no signs of life!
5: Replaced ic relay, still no signs.

At this point i dont know what else to do. Maybe i should just change it anyways. Does anyone have a better way of testing out this pump?

pull the harness connector, take your trusty voltmeter and see if you're getting power to the pump. If so replace the pump, if not I'd wager there's a relay somewhere around that you can check too (they do go bad) The I/C pump is a high up on a syty upgrade list though, a new aftermarket bolt on's ~100 bucks. I think but for the added peace of mind well worth it, so even if your pump's fine it may be worth considering. You could always find a line, break it loose and start er/see if I/C fluid shoots out =)

How can i check the pump directly from the battery? Do i need a special wire? I dont have a voltmeter at the moment.

nope, you can:
A. pull the pump and use run it's wires to the battery terminals. OR
B. Leave the pump in place and tap into the existing wires, and run new ones up to the battery terminals.

If either of these routs don't end in the pump making a "whirring" sound it's ka-put.

I was thinking more along the lines of running jumper wires to the pump *without* having to removing it... Just get yourself a good length of hook up wire and two decent sized alligator clips are you're good to go. I took an old pair of test leads and soldered them to the other end of my jumper wires to make the troubleshooting process a little more easier. HTH's

My ass. Look at it.
The stock pump is nicht sehr gut to begin with. Unless you want a TOTALLY stock truck (which is still cool as hell IMO) go with a better pump like the shurflo or johnson, and get rid of the crappy metal IC lines. This is one of the first mods anyone does and makes for a great improvement.

There are 2 wires by the pump that connect to each other with a little clip that has a green end on them. Are they part of the pump or is that something else?
