I/C pump testing

While I have my I/C unit off my Ty is there any way of testing it before I put everything back together? I have thought about sticking wire in the connection plug and then to my battery to see if it come on but, I really wasn't sure if this would do harm to the pump without having water flow thru it. Thanks

just want to hear if it will turn on? i highly doubt for that half of second it will burn out the pump. if you're really worried, get some buckets of water and transfer water from the two. you could even time it, and see how many gallons per min it pumps.
