ic pump swap question.....

I just bought a new Johnson ic pump and was changing it out. The new pump comes with wires, but no power connection, so I cut the power connection from the old, stock pump.

Now the problem is that the new pump has a brown (negative) wire and a blue (positive) wire. The old pump/pwer connection has a black wire and a brown wire. I am not sure if the black or brown is negative.

Of course, I would guess the black is negative, but I want to be sure.

Does anyone know for sure which is negative and positive on the stock pump?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Agreed. I installed one a few weeks ago. The wires are color coded 'opposite' the factory wires. I think Ron's website says something about it as well

confusion

confusion

Now I am really confused. The guy at A.P.E., where I bought the pump, says the exact opposite.

if you have any sort of voltage tester, just check the wires coming from the truck... which one is positive and hook it up to the blue on your new pump, and then connect the ground wires.

if you have "hotwired" the relay, then just turn the key to on and you'll have voltage to test for.

wire blue on the pump to brown on the truck. wire brown on the pump to black on the truck. If this doesn't do it for you, then I agree with kwick6, get a voltmeter and convince yourself... the forums are not going to solve your problem.
