Identifying self-aligning roller rockers.

Possibly this evening. Im looking for general principles however.

The rocker arms in question are Scorpion 1.6 rollers for Small Block Chevy with 3/8" studs. I believe they are available as self-adjusting and non-self-adjusting. No part number is available.

Im sure the difference is quite obvious, I just dont have any idea at the moment.

if the roller tip portion has washers on either side to make sure it stays on the valve stem....they're self aligning.

Here is an image of a stock rocker arm next to the Scorpion roller rocker, with the front of the rocker that rests on the valve stem profiled in blue:

The profile of the stock rocker arm seems to verify what Mike said about washers for roller rockers that are self-adjusting.

Here are additional comparison photos:

i don't see the washers in any of those pictures. Look at these crane golds:

see how the valve stem is sandwiched between two washers...keeping the tips on the stem?

Right, I failed to state the conclusion of the comparison explicitly...which is: "these particular Scorpion rocker arms are NOT self-aligning".

Thanks for the additional pic showing what self-aligning roller rockers look like.
