In cab fuel pressure gauge

For an in cab fuel pressure gauge, will it have to be electric? Does a mechanical gauge have to be installed on top of the engine in the engine bay?

I'm going to be looking for a mechanical one, but was wondering if I could put it in my pillar.... I don't have the money for an electric, unless somebody has a cheap 2 5/8 electric fuel gauge for sale used...

If I were you, I would not want fuel anywhere near the inside of my cab. I would definately go electric if you want a FP gauge.

To put a mechanical FP gauge in the passenger compartment you will need an isolator. Any track inspector that isnt stoned out of their mind wont let you on the track without one and its not a real good idea even if you dont go to the track. Personally, I wouldnt want fuel, under at least 50psi, spewing into the cab when Im trying to light a cig should there be a leak somewhere.

Jegs or Summit both sell isolators for using a mechanical FP gauge inside the passenger compartment or just mount the guage outside on the cowl, hood, roof, where ever so you dont have to mess with the isolator.

cybersdyne and kenne bell both sell 150ish dollar elevtric gauges, cyb's is digital.
dont go mechanical; dont use an isolator if you can really avoid it.
they're a pain in teh ass to work with.
electric makes way way more sense these days.
save $ till you can afford to do it right.

it will be hard to fit a braided line in the a pillar, so your only choice will be an electric.

to be fair to mechanicals, you dont use a braided line on teh output side of the isolator typically - nylon or copper's fine; antifreeze isnt going to harm you if it blows, and volume wise, there's almost no liquid to speak of.
you should still use an electric, though.

I was thinking of doing that, but I think somebody would snap it off if it was mounted to my wiper cowl or hood.

I drive my Ty every once in a while, you see.

Whatever you do, STAY AWAY from Cyberdyne.

I have a CB digital FP guage. Its been unhooked now for about 2 years. The POS is way inaccurate by 10+/- psi and my most favorite moment was while driving and in throttle, i watched as my FP dropped and went into VACUUM.

From that day, its never been hooked back up.

I have a Cyberdyne FP guage in my Sy and it works great. Got one for the '93 Ty too.
