Injector/ECM dilema

I am doing a pretty big build as some may know and I am almost to the point where I will finally getting my block back. Once it's back, I need to simply get head gaskets a damper and injectors and I think I'll be ready to roll. My last build was with a 67 gtq and I ran 80# injectors. I ran pump and meth and under boost I was at 47% INJDC. The turbo I am going to run this time around is a Garret 76. I was planning on e100 for fuel and 120lb injectors. I should also mention that the cam is much bigger than the last.

So the 120lb injectors will need to be low impedence since 80 is as high as high impedence are available (at least from what I have seen). I am not too worried about the 120's not being enough since I can always go to a set of 160's if that ends up the case but I am wondering if I should get the impedence converter or keep the truck off the road until I can afford a stand alone. I also toyed with the idea of running pump/meth on the 80's until I can afford to get the 120's and stand alone.

I don't know, what would you do?

Build sounds awesome Mike, can't wait to see some #s. I would also get a standalone ecu. There are some great Bs3 tuners on this site that have a lot of experience tuning SyTys. Just fyi bro, you will be running e98 which is the highest % ethanol you can buy. e100 is moonshine and not legal to burn as fuel.....Hit up Joel at Glacial Plains, I can give you the # if you need it.

I have a great source for e98 here. I'll be getting 3 or 5 55 gallon drums of it at a time and will be storing it at my shop. I was going to do pump e85 but I was talked out of it. I am going to be paying $3.44 per gallon and about $35 per drum at 5 drums I'll pay about $1100. These are the guys I'll getting the e98 from. Not sure why I wrote 100:oops:

check out FIC, you can get 95's 120's 200 etc in high impedance. I just put a set of 200's in last week in a LS and running stock LS computer. Works awesome.

Re: Injector/ECM dilema

gm ecm's can be upgraded to run low imp. injectors, been there done that.

do a search for injector driver mod, should be listed here as it was very common at one point.

I know, I did that with my old 75's and thought it was a PITA. Plus, my ECM took a dump on me and I had to buy the new drivers which led me to just get the high 80's.

Re: Injector/ECM dilema

My understanding was that you could just run a big ( high wattage) resistor for each injector to bring down the amperage load at the injector drivers in the ECM.

You probably need to do more research to make sure i'm right and to figure out what resistance is right for the stock ECM's components. I think i ran a 2.7ohm and 10W for my Megasquirt. I have to do one per injector bc a 30w. really expensive. People call them out as something like a injector driver or relay box or w/e and charge a bunch. I did my setup for less than $60...

Code what?
Your already dedicating that much of an investment, why not just go with a standalone? I'm happy with my BS3 gen3. I have gotten my fuel map all within +/- 3% for the short time I've spent tuning it. I know some may prefer another stand alone more than another but I am happy with my choice. I can't wait to upgrade to electronic trans to swap in a 60e. You already have the 80e so just eat all your cake on one plate vs using a separate controller to tune/data log the trans.

Y not go e85? Or is e98 better? Around here e85 is the best bang for the buck on alot of the imports makeing a 100hp difference! But i agree a full stand alone os the way to go!
