injector size

Hey all,
I have looked through the archives....and can't seem to find a good answer. If i wanted to get "new" injectors, should i stick w/ stock size or something diff?..............mods are:
ult. chip w/ all the needed items and the usual quick mods (no engine work). Truck is stock other than these.
I'm leaning to going to a few lbs. bigger (36's) and cut down on pressure some. Anyone done this? Would it help performance any?
Reason for this is i have the top end off and w/ 96,000 miles, thinking about replacing w/ new, while i'm there.
thanks,
Buddy

Well, it all depends, do you plan on doing any big upgrades in the future? Anyway you go about it, if you go up in injector size you will need a chip upgrade, it's not so much as just turning FP up or down. Well, you could probably get away with adjusting FP if you just go up one size bigger but still I would suggest a recalibrated chip. But if you plan on doing any major performance upgrades in the future (turbo, heads, cam, etc) I would suggest going with 50 pound injectors. Mainly because there are quite a few chip programs out there for those and not so many with say, 40 pound injectors. Just my .02

For $250 I can sell you a brand new set of delphi flow matched injectors. These would be 30 lb/hr and are a direct replacement for stock. If you have plans to to upgrade the turbo, intercooler, etc. then you could go with the 50# injectors ($395), and ultimate chip upgrade ($35) like Larry mentioned. I personally would not go with the 50s until you have further mods.

hope this helps.

There are 2 local guys that run 36# blue top injectors with the Ultimate. I am not sure exactly what make injectors they are. I think they are Lucas. I know the GN guys use them. Both trucks run very good with them.

You mean you didn't see the infamous injector thread

It really all depends on what your mods are needing fuel wise. I wouldn't change injectors until you have really determined its necessary. Only real way to tell is with a WB 02.

OK,
Guess i'll stick w/ the stocker's (after reading that thread, thanks :) ). Now another ? . Should i get these cleaned ultrasonically (i've read this could damage them) or get another brand/type. The sewing machine thing is annoying and are the "disc type" superior to the stock pintle, and if so from where? Any 30 lb'ers?
I don't plan on any turbo or head changes till it needs rebuilt.
thanks,
Buddy
