Intake Gasket Install ?'s

I am replacing the upper and lower intake gaskets and on removal I noticed some goop in the threads of the lower intake to head bolts. Is this a sealer that I need to use specificly or can I just use loc tite? It was a white gasket like stuff. Thanks in advance for any help!

probably was a white teflon paste
i used to do that on sm blk chevy's
to keep oil from wicking up the threads
and staining the intake ... i don't
have that problem on my typhoon
