I have a water pump from a meth injection kit. can I use it for a intercooler pump? here is the routing for my intercooler plumbing. does it look OK? thanks
the heat exchanger is on order.

Re: intercooler water route

I thought the meth pumps are high pressure, low volume and the IC pumps are the opposite. Being always-on might kill it pretty quick as well - any details on the pump manufacturer/model?

Which intercooler is the one just after the turbo?

I put up another pic, may make it clearer. there are 2 turbos, one for each intercooler. thanks

Instead of running from one intercooler to the next, just split it with Ts. The 2nd intercooler will be getting warmer water than the 1st.

Yes, that's the way I'd do it.

The pump I posted a link to puts out 500gph, which is by far better than the Johnson or stock. A Meth pump is t made for high gpm/gph, only high pressure. That pump will be more than enough for you, works great for me.

Any particular reason you are going to use 2 intercoolers?

Have them make it with the Rule 3700 pump installed and that will be more than enough.

Inercoolers are rated at 500hp each, I'm looking for 800rwhp.

With the design of your system, you need to have both pumps with the same flow capacity. Otherwise the one with higher flow will be trying to pump through the one with a lower flow rating.

He's right:boink:

A solution coulde to use a valves with a 50/50 % seperation.
So 1x 100% input from one pump to 2x 50% exits, to, in your case intercoolers.
don't know where to buy them but they exist.

Re: intercooler water route

The best method is to simply run the lines in parallel. You can either run two pump directly off the ice box, or one large pump and Y it to each intercooler, then Y it after each intercooler back into the heat exchanger. Or run two pumps, and two heat exchangers, back into one ice box.

Problems with one pump is that each cooler will only get 1/2 of the required volume that the pump will put out. You really want as much flow through the cores as you can, less volume of water doesn't remove as much heat as twice as much water through the core. Within reason, of course, no use pulling 60 amps just to run your intercooler pumps :)

Make sense?

Re: intercooler water route

iI did it like this, put 1/2" npt fitting in the top of int" rad" and ran a line from top of each intercooler. returned it to the tank in rear of car with -12 hose(3/4" npt fittings) -12 feed teed to feed bottom of both intercoolers. only one pump in the intercooler tank.
