I'm currently debating an H4 conversion. What have been some of the HID kits you guys have used? I see kits on eBay starting at 40 bucks. However, I would like a reliable ballast unit such as PHILIPS or another reputable company. Are the eBay Hong Kong/China kits going to last? I've never had any HID lights, so any input would be awesome.

I have bought several sets. The first set I bought for when I had my '04 Bimmer. I upgraded the fog lights to HID. Spent $200 on the kit, that was in 2007. They never blinked out on me, forget the brand name though. Purchased them on eBay.

Second set I bought for my first Jeep liberty, worked okay. One headlight would constantly blink out, eventually the Jeep met its demise with a semi and I didnt have to worry about fixing it.

Third and fourth set I purchased for my second Jeep liberty. Spent around $50ish bucks on each set. The kit I used on the headlights still has the damned blinking problem. It takes a minute or two for the "bulb" to warm up. Then it doesn't blink off. I converted the foglights too. Just not at the same time and again, $50ish bucks. This kit doesn't blink out at all. Both eBay kits. A couple years old.

I have the H4 conversion housing on the Ty now and have been looking at HID kits on eBay. It seems its more or less a crap shoot, unless you are willing to spend closer to $100-$200.

The $38 kit I purchased off of eBay like six years ago for the syclone still work flawlessly... China junk too but I purchased euro spec glass houses from hella which made all the difference with the light pattern/cut.

I've been looking at doing this for quite some time on my truck as well. You have quite a few options, ranging from cheap to insanely expensive.

The company I've worked with in the past were HIDWerks.com for my Cobalt, but I've been talking with the guys at TLG-Automotive. They offer a bunch of different options for 6x7 headlights - including JW Speaker's full LED conversion kit.

I came across them while researching JW Speaker's 6x7 full LED head lights. ICON4x4 uses JW Speaker exclusively, and I wanted to get an idea of the cost. While they look amazing, I'm not in a situation where I can justify dropping $1200 for headlights.

In any case, here is a youtube link to a review of all of their current 6x7 headlight products. I suggest giving them a call. Really knowledgeable and reasonable too.

My brother owns http://gothidxenon.com/
I sell and install hid on the side.

Its bright as hell, you country folks will have adjust the headlight to point more down.

Are those very old, they look dull. I've not had a problem with mine, though, I never had the rigs that long in the past. The ones are my Ty have been on a few years now, still look new.

I would suggest the truck-lite conversion housings, based on the pics I've seen online. The ebay ones with the fake projector is about the worst you can get. I just installed my hid retro last night using fx-r projectors.
