Lifter Help

I've always had an audible click from my drivers side head. During the week I took the driver side valve cover off of my believed to be stock truck and found roller rockers and a bunch of other comp cams stuff.

One of the rockers was harder to get off than the rest and when it came off had some obvious damage to the fulcrum.

My question is: The lifter for this rocker did not compress so I'm assuming it's not collapsed. So, how can I tell if the lifter is bad or do I need to take the intake manifold off?

Pretty much need to take the manifold off to check that. As you say, it shouldn't compress but there's not much you can tell with the intake on.

Maybe the tick was the fulcrum grinding? Any metal in the oil filter? Oil pressure ok? Were the other lifters all solid?

Actually, I think the tick was a different rocker was on pretty crooked and the side was hitting the valve retainer. There was a groove worn in the retainer so I'm assuming that was the click. The fulcrum being worn was just something else I found and wanted to try and take care of.
