Anyone else have problems with the fit?? I just put mine in & it seems like I'll have to drill 3 new holes for it to fit.... and even w/o my dashmat the bottom pod is jammed against my dash!

Is this what I should expect for a $50 some dollar piece of plastic??!!

yes, much better. i was lucky enough to have both to compare before installing. the autometer pod is by far a better fit, as well as having better gauge placement. when my webserver is back up, i'll get some pics posted of the two pods side by side, as well as the autometer installed, as i just finished it.

to anyone else, i'd definately recommend the autometer above the lotec.

I dunno... I have a lotek 2 pod... i drilled 1 hole... it fits perfectly.

The 3 pod looks a little weird, the top gauge is angled a bit high I think.

my 3 pod lotec fits ok, only problem was i couldnt drill the very bottom hole but not a big deal, other than that no problems.

Does the autometer gauge pod angle the gauges down and towards the driver a little more? Since I'm pretty short, the Lotek gauge pod seems to point my gauges way up and out. Not good for me. Also, does the Autometer come for 2 5/8 gauges?

yes on both counts. the gauges are at a much better angle for viewing, and they make a 2-5/8 pod as well. i'm still waiting on my webserver to go back up, and when it does, i'll get some pics posted that will help in this discussion.

i dunno, i have the 2-5/8" triple pod too and I had absolutely no problem with it fitting. Other than the 1 required hole thats drilled, it fit perfect.

all gauges are in clear viewing areas and look great.

just sharing my opinion.

it's sounding to me like the lotek 2-5/8" is a better, higher quality pod then their 2-1/16" pod. i've not seen the lotek 2-5/8", so i can't say anything about it. all i know is that the autometer 2-1/16" is a much better pod then the lotek 2-1/16". ( triple gauge pods, anyway)

I had the same problem with my 2 1/16" dual Lotec pod and resolved it by using my Dremel with the flexshaft attachment to drill a hole at the base of the windshield. Because there is NO way you could ever get a drill in there to make a hole unless you used a aircraft bit (super long hardened drill bit). Fit of my dual pod is decent. However, I intent to go to a triple in the near future and wasn't crazy about how high the top most pod was on the Lotec. Thanks T Jay for posting those pics of the two pods side by side :D. Looks like I will be getting a Autometer pod now 8) !

no prob. i really should have taken some when i test fit both pods in the truck, but at least i got some comparison. the top gauge in the autometer is definitely easier to see. just glad i could help. :)

FWIW..

I have the low tech tripple pod. Things I noticed:

The top of it fits horrible where the pod ends and the head liner/door weather stripping come togeather. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

The guages want to bottom out against the back of the pod when they are tightened down instead of fitting flush with the round opening. I monkeyed with mine and did some VERY gentle grinding of the back side of the guage and pod to get them to fit and not look like Stevie wonder installed them.

The top gauge seems to be at a diff angle than the middle and lower gauge. This might be minor but I notice it and it bugs me considering I think I dropped 70+ bucks for the pod.

The gauge angel does, however, seem to be mostly ok since Im 6'3". If you are of non Herman Munster stature the autometer may be more to your liking as the guages will be more pointed toward your line of sight. I look like an elephant riding a piss ant in myclone but the low tech pods gauge angle puts the gauges in my line of sight pretty good.
