For those of you wanting to do this swap, I'm planning to fab them up myself, offering them cheaper than you can currently buy them for. I'm a one man fabber with skill & no money to get it started. If I had money I could get started mocking things up and seeing what works or not.
I started this thread here because I was jacking Eviltwins thread before I knew it. I apologized so I posted here
"The header is going to have to be built around the steering shaft, As in all S-10 builds we have to deal with the drivers side steering shaft. I'm thinking tri "Y" long tube. I won't know until I can get the money to actually build it and see what works. It might turn out as a "mid" length header. As we all know a mid length puts the collector in a bad spot and doesn't do much for power. But, we have to deal with it because it's the only option. I want to change that. A tri "Y" gives you more flexibility in designing a long tube header because you only have 2 tubes going south, as opposed to 4 tubes. Thus creating the same effect as a long tube but with fewer primaries heading down to the collector. I think a Tri "Y" would work with bigger primaries than what's offered today. There are countless companies that make motor mounts. Some good, Some bad. I can't promise they'll all work with the headers I'm planning on building, but I can come up with a perfect engine placement that works with the headers, radiator, and under hood placement and try them out with multiple motor mounts to see what works and doesn't. I need investors. Who's with me? A $5 investment from 100 people could get this project started, AND you would have a return on your money if I can't bring a fully tested product to market. The percent of royalty would solely depend on how many investors there are. I'm a fair and honest person. Your $5 dollar investment won't be taken lightly. If anyone invests in me I will invest in them! I'll write down every name and address of people helping me reach my (our) goal and how much they invested and make a return on their investment. That's a personal promise to anyone. Right now, I have hand and power tools out the wazzu. I don't have shop equipment. I have access to a drill press, a mig welder, and an ox-asetelyne torch, and that's about it. I need a band saw, or a cut-off (chop) saw, and a scrap LSx based motor to use as a test dummy/jig/gauge. I already have the 4x4 chassis to use, and if need be I can get another to use as a full time jig. I want to develop LSx based products for the 4x4 V-8 S-10/blazer that currently are either too expensive, or don't work well. I think I can make better products than that of what are out there now! Who's with me?"
If I could get 100 people@ $5 to donate, I could get the necessary tools to make this happen. If someone wants to donate more it will be recorded. I think there's a market for the 4x4/AWD guys out there that don't have good parts available to them at a reasonable price to do LSx swaps. With a hands on approach, and a no risk garrontee of a full refund if not successful, then why wouldn't you want someone to develop new products for the 4x4/AWD guys? I'm talking headers, motor mounts, and oil pans for the 4x4/AWD platform which aren't readily available at this time for LSx based engine swaps in 4x4/AWD s-10's no matter if it's truck or SUV. I'll take into consideration engine placement in regards to the radiator, the firewall, and front diff clearance. The rest will be no no different than a 2wd swap. That's how easy I want to make this for the guy that wants to put a fuel injected LSx in a 4x4 without having to put a body lift on it to make everything work. Like another company that says to use their motor mounts, H3 oil pan and long tube headers on a 4x4 WITH a 2" body lift! What?! That doesn't work for an AWD guy that wants to slam it on the ground. I wanna make parts for both.If it works on a slammed AWD it will definitely work for a 4X4 guy. That's my goal, but I need help getting there.
