main bearings

I've always used full grooved main bearings but I'm having trouble finding them for a 4.3. I ordered a set from summit that were advertised as full groove but only the top half was grooved. I got the part number right and check other suppliers and they say they are only 1/2 grooved. Are full grooves not needed or do I keep looking til I find some that are correct?

Re: main bearings

i don't like full groove because it reduces the load area of the lower bearing. The idea of full groove is to increase oil flow to the rod bearings. I haven't seen a need. So in my opinion it's fixing a problem we don't have.

Re: main bearings

King makes a bearing that puts a partial grove in the lower shell. They call it 3/4 grove. You'll have to buy a SB Chev set which will give you an extra pair. I believe the number is (MB557HP 010) which is for .010 under.

IMHO these are a better bearing than Clevite.
