what is the minimum length of k&n filter that has a 4" diameter at the base of the filter where it will connect to the turbo. when installing my t-4 60-1 turbo.

yeah i have the catalogue, but i was wondering if there was a minimum length i should be going with, in order to use the turbo charger most efficently

You are going to want to go with the largest size you can fit. Kind of obvious, I know. The bigger the better.
Measure. Find out how much room you have to play with.
I imagine you have a 90 deg. L coming off the turbo. You'll also need a short pipe between the L & the filter.
Measure from the end of the L to wherever you plan to route the filter.

Do you know what the main difference is between the XSTREAM K&N filters compared to the normal ones? Can I get away with a shorter one of the XSTREAM rather than a long normal one? Are they good for normal street use or is there some way its a race only application?

6" flows up to 400hp. 9" is capable of flowing upwards of 625hp. Not to say a 6" wont work above 400hp, but it most likely becomes a small restriction.

no its made by k&n, its just called XSTREAM, and there are only a few choices in this filter.
The end cap of the XSTREAM is filter material rather than plastic/rubber/metal offering more airflow of a similar sized filter with the above mentioned material as an endcap. We just tried to order one and after 3 weeks we were told that it was a European item and couldn't be had. Jegs can special order most of 'em.

are they that much better than the normal filters, i am trying to pack in, as much punch as possible in a tight area. as most of us already are!

Well I was looking at it like a cost benefit analysis...
Spend an extra three days for something that will most likely add .000000000000000000000000000000001 to my quarter, or buy a K&N and invest time and energy (and $) elsewhere.
