Miss fire on launch

Ok, yeah, so that's a problem. The stock boost control is "calibrated" for the stock exhaust. Removing the cat and putting a good flowing exhaust is great for some additional power, but the ECU won't be able to control it accurately.

Oh. I put some octane boost on the way and no miss fire/back fire. Can also be a poor gas situation?

The octane booster would help because at least when you overboost you won't detonate \ knock. You've only got 91 Octane out in Phoenix so immediately as soon as you get into 16-17psi spikes you're going to be getting knock. I'm sure you're getting some knock when you roll into it too, it's just not as noticeable because the boost spikes aren't as bad.

This is very bad for your engine. You should stay out of it until you do something to resolve it.

You've got a couple good options...
1. Put a cat back on it.
2. Put a chip in it that's better calibrated for the free flowing exhaust and lack of cat.

And the least desirable option...
3. Put a manual or other aftermarket boost controller on it.

PS. I'll be back out there either next weekend or the following weekend or both. I usually take a ride up to the Pavilions in Scottsdale on Sat nights, would love to see the truck and always nice to meet more SyTy dudes. I know there's at least 3-4 active guys in Phx metro area.
