Mojave Mile

Stab it and steer it
Trailered to the Mojave Mile this weekend. After some initial difficulties (turbo hose came off twice) the truck went 145.2. This, to them, is a break out.. Meaning I was limited by my tires to 140 mph plus a 5mph F factor. I went a couple of tenths over 145 so I didn't get a time slip but found out later what my speed was.

This was with the bed uncovered, gate closed, and mirrors out in their normal position. Backing off a bit on the second run I ran 136. Truck ran true with no weird handeling Issues. Some shaking, probably a combination of tire imbalance and runway roughness.

I did not make any more runs because I blew an exhaust manifold gasket. Truck ran fine otherwise. I still have oil pressure and no funny noises. I do have a DM on the 145 run. It shows 153mph.

Fun but expensive. Unlikely I'll ever do it again but now I know. Once I fixed the turbo hose issue and ran the 145 I felt like a kid again. Anything over 140 was my goal so I'm happy.

Congrats!

I went 145+ racing against my friends M5. My Damm stock long block did not want to go faster than his 2001 M5:rant:

Re: Mojave Mile

Thanks. In addition I met a couple of interesting folks. Our own Dave P. and believe it or not Kenny Bell. Kenny came over and talked to me while I was waiting a turn. Asked about the truck. I gave him a quick rundown and he said it sounded like a good setup. Kinda neat chatting with him.

Dave is cool. We talked off and on all day, went to dinner later that afternoon when I decided to not run anymore. Great fun to chat with. Full of all kinds if interesting info.

Thanks Dave! I enjoyed our visit.

Re: Mojave Mile

Sounds like a fun experience. I would like to try that myself. My truck probably would blow more than a gasket.
