I have only seen knockoffs of the MSD Pro Billet factory replacement style distributors with a module, I am looking for the magnetic pickup style.

thanks

This is the last one I have. I had a couple over the last ten years, but hardly ever see them anymore. It's the 8596 setup for odd fire. Of course if you are doing a crank trigger you will be only using one of the reluctors.

It's also has a slip collar for adjustment. $260 includes U.S, shipping.

Use the MSD large Dia Cap #8414 and the V8 phase adjustable rotor #84211. Best way to setup for a crank trigger and adjust the phasing.

Re: MSD distirbutor p/n 8597 or 8596

John,

I was planning to use this along with an RPM crank trigger for my driver Typhoon with BS3, it would be used as a cam sync and also to distribute the spark to the plugs. I think MSD only makes the large cap and adjustable rotor for the V8 applications, which I don't think would work for this setup. I have the LS1 BS3 on my bowtie motor with coil on plug and that uses a GM RV cam sync distributor and a 24 tooth crank wheel.

MSD does make the large cap (#8414) in a 6 cylinder and the V*8 adjustable rotor (#84211) does work with that cap.

This setup is what I run and it works great. I am running a FXI with a crank trigger.

Re: MSD distirbutor p/n 8597 or 8596

John,

MSD claims that p/n 8414 is a Cap-A-Dapt for a Ford V8. Even Jegs and Summit show it as that. Any chance that number is wrong? They do show a p/n 8014 clip down cap for a 6 cylinder, but it looks to be a small cap.

thanks,

I just went out to the garage and look at the package. It is 8014...sorry. It is a large cap. I just cut the clip pin, remove it and use it as a screw down.

Re: MSD distirbutor p/n 8597 or 8596

Thanks for checking that John, is the 8014 a direct fit to the 8597/8596 style distributor or does it require an adapter?
