My AC Fan (Blower) Isn’t Providing Enough Volume

The AC fan (blower) isn’t providing enough volume of air in my Typhoon. If I have someone in the back seat, they don’t get any cold even when I have selected ‘Max Air’.

The past month it has been near 100 degrees. The air is cold coming out of the vents but not as much volume as I think should be coming out.

I have all speeds when I use the fan speed switch. I tried a wire straight from the battery to the blower motor to see if it would give more but it didn’t. I bought a new blower for the truck and get the same amount of air.

Again, the issue isn’t the amount of cold but the amount of air.

I was thinking about getting a blower motor from a suburban and changing the mount so it would fit the Typhoon. I thought this might give more air.

Any suggestions?

is the flapper valve properly diverting air to the dash vents, defrost and floor vents as selected?

That flapper is vacuum controlled and if stuck in the middle you could just be blowing out all the vents at once reducing the amount of pressure from the dash vents specifically.

crawl under the dash by the accelerator pedal, there is a diaphragm with a small linkage attached to the valve. Pull down on the linkage and see if there's any change in the blower speed. I had the same problem and noticed the diaphragm wasn't holding enough vacuum. I took it off and wired the flapper valve to only blow out the front. I dont use anything else

I thought that it may be the gate that diverted the air from the upper vents to the lower heater vents but when I checked by holding my hand down there, there wasn't any air coming from the lower vents or the defroster vents. I figure I may have some issue with the foam seal being rotted but the gate still keeps most of the air going where it should (what air I can get moving).

I had to replace the heater core about 4 years ago and did an adjustment on the gate at that time.

Does anyone know if all of the blower motors that are in GM vehicles turn the same RPMs? If not, whar aresome of the blower motors that turn the fastest ?

If you replaced the heater core, check to make sure you didn't disconnect any hoses behind the dash. When I took out the access door in my glovebox on mine I noticed one of the hoses going to the right side vent was just hanging and the ac was just blowing behind the dash

I have the same issue (benefits of living in Miami) with my Ty. Thanks for the info. I am going to check this out in mine.:tup:
