i agree w/ mike. let's talk about the goods and the bads.. make the bads good and duplicate them. i would imagine the community could possible benefit if these were available.

Bads
arms too short
front mounting point of the arms
doesnt have 360 degrees around the axle

sounds fixable.

Are these brackets to be welded to the axle? Does the non-360 degree really matter? If the brackets were complete circles, would we be able to slide them onto the sy axles? If so i could definitely make the brackets complete circles.

the brake flanges @ the end of the axles won't allow them to just slide on. but they could be made in 2 pieces and welded together once installed. the flange or axle tube will break before a good weld will.

just order a kit from comp engineering or s@w race cars alot cheaper and better quality you will need to cut the axle flanges off, but there is no point in doing all this on the 7.5 rear diff if you are making enough power that the rear susp doesnt "work" anymore you need a 8.5 rear diff

Comp Engineering Kit (from jegs anyway)

2472006.jpg

$206 ladder bar setup

2472005k1.jpg

$911 kit

so this kit is a weld-on complete 360...so i can easily make the back piece to the bracket. So that solves 1 'bad' As for ladder length...thats another story.

Anyone have pics of this kit installed?

my college roommate designed race suspensions for a vintage racing company, he has offered to hook me up with a rear setup, unfortunately neither one of us has the time or the money to do so.. someday.. someday..

So what do you plan to use for a panhard bar?

I would prefer a panhard kit that has poly bushings instead of the rod ends like this edelbrock one .

Re: My new Rear Coilover kit

I know this post is over a year old so I wonder, has anyone installed the competetion engineering setup mentioned? I am looking through tons of posts trying to figure out what to do with my rear setup...
