Usually the contests are SyTy oriented and there is always a chance to win some type of SyTy related prize.
Usually they are quite expensive donations.
We will have to wait and see what our vendors can spare this year, but I am sure it will be more than enough to justify a few goofy contests.
One we came up with too late to get it on last year was
Floor Jack racing.
Standing on the jack pad of your favorite floor jack, holding the handle as if it were a scooter, using a skateboard type motion to propel yourself and your floor jack down the lot around cones and back.
This type of contest is usually best performed in the evening under the parking lot lights while knocking back a few.
We encourage helmets and any safety gear you may feel is necessary.
Any injuries will not be the responsibility nor liability of the SyTy Nats planning committee.
The run of the mill contests are as follows:
Tire change: fastest person to change all 4 tires, one at a time. roll each tire around the truck without it leaving the ground, ie: no carrying, and get it back on the hub with all lugs torqued to factory spec. There should be a stipulation that the truck used MUST have stock wheels. We have seen a blatant advantage for those with ZR1, or aftermarket wheels because the stock wheels have such a tight area to spin lugs on and off.
Propshaft swap: Quickest to have their shaft out and on the ground 3' in front of the truck with all bolts acccounted for.
Part2 of this contest is fastest to reinstall, but we never have time for that one.
Also Pshaft removal usually takes place immediately before leaving for the dyno. So those who are going to dyno should compete in this contest since they are taking it out anyways.
Head Swap: Quickest person to remove and reinstall one head including gasket and torque all bolts to factory spec.
This one was new last year since patrick brought a donor block and heads.
I cant even remember all the contests from previous years, but we try to come up with something new each year.
Please post your ideas of what sounds fun and what may be a waste of time.
