Thanks

Thanks

First off I'd like to say thank you to Marty and Opie for all of their hard work. This was my first Nationals and it will be hard to top. When my son (Justin or you might know him on the board as ldz5150) bought his Typhoon I really wasn't that into it. I'm and old carbed big block guy. But after this gathering I really like these trucks. Every one I meet was very nice. I think we have a good group of guys here. Can't wait till next year. Also a special thanks goes out to the Chi-Town guys for all there help on the truck. Hope to see you some time soon. Thanks again to everyone. Rob

heh mike renz.. the sy/ty drunk... the kid that managed to smell up a pathfinder, and stay awake all night, and drive, and piss everyone off.. ohh yeah and clean out m-lo's closet.... :D

Hmmm....

2001 it was M-Lo and Mike Campbell
2002 it was M-Lo and Mike Renz
2003 will it be M-Lo and Mike Woznicki?

i was awake for 43 hours straight...and I'm sure i wasn't the only one. Mix in a lot of alcohol and you wake up face down in a bath tub, hoping that when you walk out into the room, you'll recognize the people there. priceless.

Bush-swimmer was the funniest thing. Seeing mini-tommy boy's legs kicking away still makes me laugh when i think about it. And then sneaking back to his car hoping we can't see him through our now tear-filled eyes.

Adam...anyone that i can torment and still laughs is f'in cool in my book
Heather...sorry i stole your chair the first night, thanks for saving my life.
Jas...I only set up the beer that almost hit your paint.
BDubb...my ring tone is way cooler than yours, face it
Erue...she musta told me that was a J...not an M
MikeB...your pathfinder does well over curbs at 85mph
Smaug...the waitress at denny's definitely wanted me
Morgan...with about $160 more you would have gotten the stuffed doll from the skill crane
Ian...i can't think of any more Looser jokes
Keith...by talking with you I now understand your love of flames :p
Smaller Dubb...are you sure you're 21?
Jerry...good thing a drag strip is straight, becuase judging by your GT3 lack-of-skills....

and some of my favorite occurences:
McCoys face when I said "so thats what it takes to run mid 16s?" while chatting w/ him about the SS Turbo

"do you wanna take a ride in a typhoon?" "no"

"give me my chair back...you stole it" "can't you just ask nicely?"

and unfortunately i can't remember the other countless things that I was dying laughing from, becuase quite frankly, I was drunk as hell.

Nats did kick some serious ass!! It was my first one and will not be my last.
First and foremost a HUGE thanks to Opie and Marty for all their hard work.
I hope it paid off for them because it did for everyone else who went.
It was good to put some of the faces with the names and talk to someone
rather then type to them. And of coarse, good to see all the people I've already
met. Seeing what Turbo Tony's Sy was all aboot is something I'll never forget along with
the 2 Marlboros racing. TWICE! Nick, George and Dan, WHAT'S GOIN ON?!?! Pete, Eric and Renz, thanks
for driving my pathfinder more then I did. The thing couldn't even catch the dually towing Pete's Sy,
but it got us to and from the nats. Renz, don't worry about leaking that shit in the back of my
truck. I think the smell was from a combo of your heads leaking, rain getting in my open windows
and who knows, maybe someone pee'd in there too. I already got it all cleaned and smelling normal so it's all good.
Dubb, your moms cookies kick ass!! Morgan, you my friend, are a trooper. I've never seen anyone drive that long.
Simply amazing!!! Jas and Heather, again, a huge thanks for grabbing my camera off the parking lot at 5 am.
Hartman, dude you're a walking book of knowledge. It was great to have you in the car on the way back so I
could get a full schooling on whole bunch of shit. And again, sorry for that smell. Good to see everyone made it
home OK. All in all it was one hell of a weekend.

Of course -- thanks to the organizers of the Nats and all the people that volunteered. You know who you guys are...you have the black shirts that accomodated so nicely with the weather

But most of all, Thanks to all of you that made it out to the Nats this year. It's folks like yourselfs that make the Nats what it was and what it is.

Lots of people I met for the first time, and was glad I did. There were a TON that I missed talking to...given more time, I would have made the rounds.

Looking forward to all your returns next year.

Best,

Merk

i hated the whole thing. It was run poorly, the trucks were slow and ugly, every one was a prick and very boring, the location sucked, all the raffle prizes were lame and marty couldn't race worth a poop.

thats why I left with a smile, stayed up till 4-5am and feel an emptiness now that I'm gone.

Lots of fun, a bunch of new faces, and one hell of a motivator to get out and scare the hell outa myself in the sy. Marty still cant race though.
