Seems like it would make the most sense to have two permanent locations for every other year? Chicago and Denver for example.

Not a bad idea.. go back and forth from location to location. Then the people organizing it in each town have ample time to organize things.

East Coast people are still kinda alienated though. But guess you can never please everyone.

By the way, I looked into the Rt. 66 here in chicago and it would be over $20,000 to rent out. Compared to the $2,200 other local places have offered, and the other places have no tech.

nats at renz house, everyone just brings tools to work on renz's truck and finally get it running again.

I think for sure Chicago should have an event regardless if its called Nats or Homecoming. Then every other year have an east coast then west coast thing. There is no one location, so maybe have three locations and rotate them every year. I would take my truck to some and maybe fly in for others. But the key to failure is trying to please everybody!

Qwerty I dont think that is a half bad idea. For the east and west coast years have them in a central location to those areas so then if people from the other coast or midwest still want to drive it isnt the extreme end of the country.

Re: NATS location

just have it in vegas you "EDIT" Wussies", theres absolutely NOTHING TO DO anywhwere else, the reason Vegas is such the cooler option is that there is much more than a racetrack and a parking lot for us White Trash folk to get wasted in, it may be more money but its a lot more to do and a lot more fun. Screw you east coasters, try driving for days or organizing caravans across the country like we do IF we come from the west. I really dont think you appreciate how far WCers actually have to go to get to nats whereas the general nats population spends a fraction of the time (with consideration for the 5 people from other far out states).. but the reason WCers never make it, and the NATS are so boring, is because its the same people, doing the same exact things every year, in the same place, yes it has memories, but they are long gone, time to make the event more fun than traditional. Im not only down for vegas, but out of all those options besides sea lvls and other shit, vegas is the best place to go for an "event" to have "fun" newly formed fun, not re-jokin about the same annual junk..
TRUST i know its a bitch to get tho there for some of you but if we alternate the spot of nats it will draw new members, new fun, and be more fair for the entire community.
I AM very proud of the past NATS organizers and am takin no credit away from them, the events were planned as well as could be, the reason they are falling off is because of repitition. I know ive heard "if you want to make nats somewhere else, you plan it etc.." mt retort is "if u want nats to be a real event and for people to have fun, your gonna have to sacrifice and move it around the Country for other people to have oppertunities".. and heres my asshole statement,, not in kansas so you (the circle) can suck each other off each year without a care in the world about who else shows up.. my 2

ok well thats totally uncalled for and totally against the maturity requested for the thread. WE ALL KNOW THE EVENT NEEDS TO CHANGE. And it is going to. Bitching about things of the past will get us as a group NO WHERE. Invoking an argument will do nothing but hinder future events, so lets all leave crap like this OUT OF THIS THREAD.

The next NATS will most likely not be in Kansas....so rather than jump the gun and bitch bitch bitch....how about adding some good ideas for the event rather than "Vegas is awesome."

have a little tact. All opinions are being taken into consideration. All ideas are, also.

Step back and re-read how you stepped into this thread, and think about if it was really the best way to insert your opinion.

Saying the event died isn't helping, now is it?

sorry man but cmon, this event has gone down hill, people are always CRYING from the East (the even planners) and other people about not wanting to drive far and this and that and look, the eventt has died, i think its sad, sucks and would love it to change. Sorry if my delivery wasnt up to your standards but dont flame when i have a decent point.. What are you one of the 5 mile away click that i mentioned? Mad cuz i called you out or something about the distance? Deal with it, help the event dont flame and make this topic go in circles.

No matter where you have NATS someone is gonna cry about the distance. That's why it shouldn't be held the same place every year.

No I've never been to nats. I would like to go someday. Didn't think you'd go all crazy over my comment. From my point of view it looked like a little rant with name calling and circle jerk refrences, doesn't really add anything to your GOOD suggestion. I apoligize for calling your post a rant.
no prob, not mad at any 1 person especially you, its just upsetting its come to this. I do appologize, and ur totally right, u can tell im being more neg than anything but, YES, there are good points in my lil "rant" ,and yes, there are things that are main reasons why OTHER people dont wanna come. The circle jerk refrence, like it or not, is what we call the 100% nat attendees, there the same people over and over, some new people but they never come back so its the same thing over and over again.. People, call NATS "clicky" meaning there are groups that go just to see each other and they stick together. Dont get me wrong, theyre all friendly and nice, BUT, they dont care if other people they didnt see the year prior and prior there, they just wanna see thier circle. To me thats cool, but thats not what a NATIONAL event is, its everyone not just a guaruntee that the same 10 people will show up for a weekend of catching up...

Re: NATS location

If I went to Vegas the last thing I would want to do is sit around in a parking lot and talk about my truck. I can do that anywhere. Vegas is Vegas! I would be wasting my time if I went there and "stand around in a parking lot with a bunch of dudes talking shop" This forum is about trying to come up with some good idea's and brain storm for our next meet. I resent the fact that the last NATS or any NATS is boring or washed up. Mike has all good intentions so don't call him a homo or think he is trashing your idea's. We are all in this together and have to agree to terms.

i edited homos, renamed it wussies.. refrence was towards driving a longer distance to help others drive shorter ones in an effort to SEE each other and have FUN again.

One problem with a national event that I see is that 50% of the trucks aren't running. SY/TY are exclusive and rare and not as big of a following as other vehicles. It's definitely a task to get a national event together just because the circumstances. IMO There should be more focus on regional meetings and events since a lot of people don't want to drive so much. Hopefully that will change in the future.

Maybe no the best way and ur right i didnt read the thread fully, i dont think i have too, its not like this isnt the same topic talked about the past 3-4 years man, remember ive been here.
I do think thats the best option, maybe people will realize that things have to seriously change before the nats is a functional event, maybe people need to rely less on Opie and the other planners and start to actually give input on what would make a difference and maybe they can help, if they care so much. U know you dont realize how much you loved something till its gone right? So throw that in our faces make us get more involved, if we really care, people will help.
Hey seriously if i did want nats to end (which i so dont, when i heard from Dubb it wasnt gonna happened i got totally upset, my sept plan done for, it sucked) i wouldnt even be here posting. Again, sorrry for the negitivity, yes im full of it (promise none solely aimed at any 1 person, cept for Renz cuz he has a shortbus from gradeschool) but thats seriously all im trying to say.
ps glad i got a rise, maybe i will casue commotion (more than just now) and we can start to bet this event on and crackin.
NATS WILL NEVER DIE!

Re: NATS location

I don't think you can get more centrally located than Kansas City. If you mapquest, Boston to KC, it's 22+ hours. LA to KC is 23+ hours. There are a lot of east coaster, and a lot of west coasters. Moving it to Vegas would make it almost two days of straight driving without a break for the east coasters. Shows 40 hours. Don't get me wrong, I love Vegas, and go there at least once a year anyways. Someplace like Vegas, after all the days activities are done, people are going to scatter to different and blow away money at the casinos that could be used to fix their truck for the drive home. Then there wouldn't be time to eat weird fish from foreign contries. If we are going to make it different every year. Maybe not go any further west than maybe Denver. That's about 30 hours from Boston, and no further east than maybe Indy, about 30 hours from LA. So instead of making it two days of 10-11 hours of driving, it just bumps it up to two days of 15 hours of driving. I don't care where it's at, I'll probably go no matter what. It'll be years before my truck is on the road again, so if it's too far, I'll just fly.

My 2 cents.

On a side note. I have been trying to get ahold of the director of O'Reilly Raceway Park for prices on renting the strip, but he doesn't answer his phone, and won't return phone calls. I hear he's a real a s s hole. I start racing in a few weeks, so hopefully I can track him down at the track.

Renz and whoever is planning w/him is gonna change it up for the best and multi locations is what I know he has in mind. Give him some time. It'll work out. I personally have faith in the man.

Yeah Zach, we should send out invitations for Dallas  TYRODD will shoot his wad the first day he is there
