I have a few questions about my tire sizes.
currently i do not have the front end instaled in the truck because of a castrophic malfunction when the po had it.

Tire sizes are
265 40 17

315 30 18

I need to know if i can run these tires when i re install a new front end . I do not know what the tolerances on different tires sizes are with these transfer cases i do not want to mess it up.

There are tons of articles on here about running different sized wheels and tires if you search. I am not one who can throw that stuff out there off the top of my head but I can say that there are a lot of threads on here about guys trashing VCs because of different sized wheels and tires.

The 17" rotates 820.62 times per mile. The 18 rotates 817.57 times per mile. Some one else I'm sure will jump in and let you know if that difference is too much

My advice is to run the same size wheel and tire at all 4 corners. Just my :2cents:

I just decided to run...17's all the way around with p275/40r17....almost the same as the stock tires and doesn't mess up the speedometer as much. I ran what your trying to do and didn't like it that much. Plus I can rotate the tires and not have to worry about screwing up the T case. I've got a set of 18's for sale in the parts section.

Sometimes a dime in prevention can save a dollar in repair. A lot of guys get these trucks with shoddy work or just things done that the average guy wouldn't know could cause problems. I can completely understand not wanting to throw down a ton of money into a new truck but SyTys are a pay to play sport and there are a ton of horror stories on here of guys burning out VCs from mismatched wheel and tire combos.

Try searching something like ... Tire aspect ratio. Or some type of calculator.

What you are looking for is same height or over all diam. Must all match.

My neighbor just asked me to get him a set of tires and he insists on 225.. Well I found a set of 235 and he went off on me. I told him the tire is just wider. He kept going off..

I did some math and it was .4 difference over all in his case. He did slightly prove me wrong but there is always 2 sides so we are even. It did not matter anyway because again in his case I'm getting him 4 of the same tires from my cash and carry hook up.

He may have been worried about his speed being off..

But yea with one of these trucks there is minimal tolerance. You could possibly heat the t case up real quick.

Re: need some tire advice

I stuck with what I planned on which was p275/40r17 ' s which I think are perfect and won't hit cladding with minimal rubbing if any...If you want pics let me know.
