I'm currently on the same level as you :)
What i've learned so far is that you might be able to find a syclone in good condition that requires a kind of far travel to get for maybe 11-12 13 max. According to the page, theres mucho things you must do to them inorder for them to be reliable and be well maintained. Looks like about 1000 dollars worth of modifications including the 3bar chip etc etc. I may be wrong, but that's about my calculation and a full day worth of work performing it all. As for a modified one, I came across one at the beginning of summer for 11.5k that claimed to run 11's. It had 64k miles i think? maybe 84k, I was looking at two at the time. The guy owned a performance shop of some sort, so it was probably well maintained. Most likely raced alot, though. Good luck finding the one you want. I'm currently looking myself for my first one.

I do, but everything I look at / call on sound ragged out or it's at a dealership of which I do NOT trust since I myself am somewhat of a car dealer. Plus i'd rather buy it from someone who can tell me the history of the car and knows about Syclones themself, rather than have picked it up from an auction trashed out and repossessed then took some armor-all and carpet cleaners to the entire interior, then had someone do one hell of a detail job on it to make it look like it does.
The one I really want is this one :
http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/...ny&advcd_on=n&advanced=n&color=&car_year=1991

but it's way over what I want to pay for one. I'd spend that much eventually, but i'd rather have it all done myself then buy it like that.
I'm extremely picky on what i'm going to buy unless I know I can get the work I need done for free or at cost. Paint and body work for example, I can have done. Motor work I can have done or do myself. That's the reason i'm looking at the red one, I just want to know the effects of shaved heads and a lowered block deck. If it means saving a few grand to put into the truck by doing some things yourself then i'm willing to do it.

I bought mine bone stock with 77k and no problems a year and a half ago for under $10k. I posted a want ad at syty.org with as much detail as possible about what type of truck I was looking for (stock vs. modded, mileage vs. price, show queen vs. handyman special, etc.). Within a few days, I had half a dozen replies from all over, with some trucks sounding great, and others nothing near what I wanted.

I agree that you should probably get a stock one, or one with every single mod documented, and understand what those mods are. Many times, they get the wrong parts, so you end up putting everything back to stock to figure out what's wrong. If you're going to put all stock parts in it, might as well start with all stock...
