Not enought fuel

I just pulled my 93 typhoon out of storage the other day and took it for a drive . Worked fine until I hit the throttle and.. ....nothing, just a bunch of sputtering and shaking. I fugured the fuel pump was out cause it is about 11 years old, so I replaced it and the fuel filter. It got a lot better but is still doing the same thing at WOT. I can only build about 5 psi before it starts giving out. I think there might be air in the fuel lines, does anyone know how to fix that? Or am I completley wrong and its something else? Any help would be great.

I did replace it with a stock pump. I tried to get a 255 lph but I wanted it that day and there isnt a store in the greater phoenix area that sells a high performance in-tank pump. And scince its a stock car I figured it would at least work the way its supposed to.

after all that work, maybe some one could suggest an inline fuel pump to help things...i've read something about that before...is the stock syty pump the same as the stock s-series pumps?hmm...

11 months? is it old fuel? also remember someone saying that if the pickup is too close to the bottom of the tank, it restricts fuel flow...or maybe not enough fuel in it? i havent done one yet so cant suggest anything except what i read before :drinking:

Speaking of Inline Fuel pump, Boost'd, who is a new member on here from kc kansas, gets killer deals on ALL SORTS of parts. He bought a nice aluminum sumped tank, inline fuel pump, the lines and all for only 300.

But back to your problem. Any way you could watch the fp while it does this? Or the o2's. Boosted's truck is doing the same thing... when he accelerates, it stutters and doesnt go anywhere. I noticed on datamaster that while it was doing this, his 02's were FLAT on their face. below 50.

New O2 sensor?

The fuel is brand new, the whole tank. I pulled out a spark plug and they need to be replaced, so i hope thats the problem. But i think its a combination of a lot of things.

Might as well just go to autozone and purchase a "Conrad cap & rotor" Some new taylor wires... and either ngk ur5 spark plugs or the cr42ts ones.

Maybe a new fuel filter if u havent already just for the heck of it. its cheap.

Im working on the plugs now, any tips to getting the #3 out? Its right behind the steering column and i cant seem to get the wrench behind it.

I got the plugs changed and it runs fine, I can build full boost and smooth all the way, but its not quite as fast as it should be. Any ideas why? Im all out of them.

"not quite as fast as it should be" that must be by SOTP. Time for datamaster. Maybe your not getting full boost. Oh and about the Spark Plugs, go to Sears and get you a swivel 5/8th spark plug socket.

I jsut took it down to the local car show and on the wy back i notices i was only building 10 lbs of boost. Does anyone know of a shop around north east phoenix that will run a diagnostics check without costing an arm and a leg?

I added the new O2 sensor and it is still doing the same thing. Perhaps I can run out there this week and run the datamaster.
I am checking the ignition module tomorrow.

I will be offering deals to everyone on the board shortly. I work at a wholesale distributer that has everything from Taylor to MSD to Borla and Flowmaster. Most of the common big name in the aftermarket. Unfortunately I dont have access to the niche vendors that so many of the syty guys use. But like he said, I got a new tank, sump kit, MSD inline pump, Inline filters, AN fittings and Alum fuel line for 329. my cost. Once I get the account set up I will offer this to everyone and someone can make it a sticky so if I can get you parts cheap I will. :D

I will keep everyone posted.
In the mean time check out this link to see where things are at and maybe I will get lucky http://www.syty.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=31275
