NTK WB 02 sensor - Gone?

Ok - I've been looking for the 5-wire NTK WB sensor for my WB kit for over 2 1/2 months. There are none available anywhere I can find. Peter at Techedge replied to my inquiry by saying "I'm don't know about sensor availability" - great...

Napaonline let me order it and then told me it's backordered and canceled my order. The Parts Bin is sold out. Every other source I have heard of is sold out - some kind of "national backorder" as quoted by The Parts Bin.

Anyone know another source? Has anyone purchased a sensor recently? I wonder if someone is trying to kill the DIY WB setup by eliminating the sensor??

Please keep us posted. I was considering building a Wide Band O2 over winter but this could be a real show-stopper.

I'm on Peter's WB02 email list, and apparently there is a world-wide shortage on these sensors. The only ones that seem to have it in stock are the Honda dealers, but, from what I've heard, they want at least $350 each. Every so often, PartsBin gets more in. You just have to keep trying. Good Luck.

Don't worry. If the demand is that high, they won't stop making them.
Everyone goes through this around the holidays. Most likely a shipping thing.
Too many cars have them. If worse comes to worse, I'll hit the junk yard and start looking.

Thanks, Mike. That's about $70 more than I paid for the last one, but that's till a LOT better than what the Honda dealer wants.

Thanks again.

I just checked the parts bin and they are in stock.
Free ground shipping in the continental states.

Where did you get that information, Blake? I called the Parts Bin's toll free number today after I read your message and they confirmed they are "out of stock until further notice".

Off their website. Do they not update their website?

I'm not sure what is up with their website.

Last night, I went to the partsbin site and entered the part number and it came up. It listed the sensor, price, and everything.

Then tried it today, and nothing is coming up.

I looked at it earlier today and it came up fine.
Now it just says O2 sensor and gives their 1-800 number.
I've got a synical feeling that aftermarket venders are buying the diy kits and jumping on the partsbin and clean them out every time they become available for a few minutes. Wouldn't surprise me if these kits start turning up in fancy boxes with "company name" on it. We'll get ours. Just be patient. If anything, call them up and see if you can get on a waiting list with a number and everything if it's that hard to get.

I got banged pretty good at $60 for mine from Techedge. $144 bucks in Australian money at the time.
Go for the true DIY EFI wideband. I had to thoroughly inspect every resistor in my kit because many of them were poorly labled. Decimal points left out, no "K"s on anything. Some had decimal points but they were in the wrong place. Ended up taking over 5 hours to put the thing together but it does look pretty when your done.

kwik6 - Napaonline continues to list the sensor even though they have been out of stock for at least two months. I have ordered it twice from them - once you order it they send you a message "Sorry - but we have no inventory at this time - your order will be cancelled in 7 days".

At least ThePartsBin takes it off their site when they are out of stock.....

I have had no problems receiving parts (other than the sensor) from Techedge. I ordered the boards twice from the U.S. DIY WB site before I went to Techedge and never received the order.

FWIW I ordered the DIY WB sites PC board and got it in ~7 working days. I actually spoke to the guy (Jurgen whatshisname) that has the parts kits for this set up on the phone as I couldnt get his email addy to work and he has the parts kits in stock. The parts should be here in ~10 days Im guessing.

I just hope I can get the WB 02 to hook the dang contol to once I get it built

All the parts were in my kit from Techedge. The resistors were the only problem and that was labeling. Say you had a 2K2. They just wrote "22" on it. They used the higher heat rated blue ones. Reading the color stripes on those(I don't have a digital multimeter)was an eyecrosser. The yellows turn a funny green color and the reds turn brown on them. Learned a little about identification at the same time though. Still trying to find an LM1086.
