Odd question

Has anyone tried to fit a complete sy/ty motor in the back of a s-blazer. If anyone has moved one. i'm going to pick mine up this weekend and don't know if i should try to get a trailer or something. And about how much do they weigh. Also are the intakes easy to take off, if it is too tall.

I doubt it will be too tall.... unless its on a pallet or something, if you have a fork lift you should have no problem getting it in or out, but yes, the upper intake is just 8 or 10 bolts I think, the distributor is just 1 bolt, but dont forget to mark its location before you unbolt it.

As for weight, I have no idea, but complete they are a lot. I can only lift one by myself with the heads removed, I know the heads are 72 lbs just on their own, so you gotta figure the block, crank, rods, pistons, ect are quite a bit.

I moved a standard 4.3L in the back of my Celica before, it wasnt too happy about it, but it worked :)

Funny you should ask. I transported the first SyTy engine I had rebuilt (back in '98) to the machine shop in my '84 S10 Blazer. Fit beautifully, but I got about 200 yds from Waller's driveway when some crazy ass dike pulled out in front of me in her Lexus. I came all around eating her license plate and in the process, the engine decided to practice gymnastics (tumbling end over end). I had no choice but to try to stop it with my hand (thank God for adrenaline), and managed to keep it from coming through the seats and riding shotgun with me. I made it to the machine shop and then realized I had a 5" wide, 1/2" deep gash in my arm.

thats funny as hell but not as funny as the old guy that ran the stop sign and decided to plow under your blazer.
