Gang,

We just talked about removing motor - how about Reinstalling ?

I would like to do the Engine & Tranny togehter - it's so much easier.
The trouble is - I can't get the trans on the trans jack (too Hi) EXCEPT underneath the car. It's a real butt pain - almost impossible - for one
guy to lift the trans on the jack under the car. I just did it on a GN and about killed myself, and I said - "Never again".

Anyway, guys said "U couldn't do it" on a GN and me and a buddy did it on a TTA w one of those "tilt type" engine levelers. Unfortunately the engine bay on the Ty is shorter, so I'm wondering -

Has anyone installed the engine and trans bolted together ? I realize I may have to remove the Front Diff, which I will have out anyway.
is shorter, and

You'd have to tilt that thing so far down, that i'm wondering if the front of the engine would clip the front of the engine bay. You certainly couldn't have the radiator in during this....but i still thing it'd be hella close.

It can be done, I did it. :D But a couple issues:
1. the oil pan won't clear the front diff (if you're taking the diff out anyways no worries)
2. I did it with a cherry picker and was able to tilt the engine however I needed to get it to fit.
3. I did it with the front clip off There is only a handfull of bolts holding it on anyways and it made things alot easier!
4. I didn't remove the diff for the install but instead I took out the body bolts and jacked the body up about 6" and put a cinder block between the frame and body so the engine didn't hit the firewall and would clear the diff.

So by myself it took me 1 weekend to pull 2 front clips off, pull the engine and trans from old Ty, and install into new truck and reinstall both front clips again. I know this sounds like alot of work but its not as bad as you may think. If you already have the front diff out though, you'll be in alot better shape than I was. Good luck!
