Then he must have been really lucky. I haven't kept up with that stock but he must have been in it really early to make that kind of money on an initial investment. Most people under 20 y/o have some sort of backer, hidden or present. His parents maybe matched whatever he invested. Still, that is a lot of car for a 18-19 y/o to be trusted with.

Me too I would love to know how to play the stock market but one thing is for sure when it comes down to street racing I tend to bet it all on black if you know what I mean. ;)

Re: OMG I forgot the 05 Viper

I bought stock in an IPO, I picked up 46 thousand shares, so I'm really keeping my fingers crossed. Plus the company has just found a building to move into in the LA area, yippie...
Maybe I'll buy a few vipers some day

If you're looking for a good investment... look into real estate.

No way... the buble so tight I'm just wondering when it's going to burst. Bought my condo at 85g, pretty reasonalbe for a small 800sq ft place that has no gaurage, it's valued now at 359,000 !!

the poor saps I bought it from paid 130,000 for it, they lost money big time. My idea is anybody that buys my condo now for the 359,000 is looking to loose thier shirt on it when they go back down to the realistic value of these places.

But of course great for me if I sell.

There's no such thing as 'The Bubble'.

If you know what you're doing you will make money in real estate investment no matter what. When it's a seller's market... you make money. When it's a buyer's market.... you make money. You learn ways to make money when others are afraid and wanting to sell for whatever they can get.

This supposed 'Bubble' is what keeps everyone and their dog from doing it. All the better for me.

If you want to get into a stock market vs. real estate debate.... we sure can. I'm well versed in the pros and cons of each side of the debate. Real estate wins hands down no matter what for reasons you can't touch with stock market... no matter how hot the tip.

This is what I have found when someone abnormally young owns an expensive car and says they bought X stock and made fortune. Mommy and Daddy are rich and their numbers when pressed on specifics don't add up.

I dont doubt your theory. However, I'll admit I dont know enough about the stock market to have challenged him.

the real estate thing won't last at the pace it is now...nothing ever does. it just isn't that simple, if it was, everyone would be rich.

Won't last? How do you figure? What makes you think it's a flash in the pan type investment? Real estate has been around for EVER and I don't see it going away anytime soon. Everyone isn't rich because it takes more research and work and intelligence than most people possess. Also, the main reason not everyone is rich is because they tend to have your attitude on real estate investment.

This thread isn't about REI though so we shouldn't discuss it here any further.

The real estate "bubble" is on the verge of bursting (or should be considering the prices) in Southern California more than anywhere else. Its ridiculous.

While people are still buying houses... it will never burst which means it does not exist. If someone has a budget of $1mil then they look in that market. As values increase it means they can get less house. Few people actually start looking lower in price instead they stay in the same price and buy less house. This is what makes the market continue. Regardless of your asking price, rent or L/O for a house/rental unit/apartment building someone somewhere can afford it. The lower the price to more people can afford it.

Either way, as I said earlier, a good real estate investor can make money no matter what. There are SO many ways to make money on real estate based on the property, market or area. Just have to know what your options are as an investor. Like most jobs, it's not for everyone. Hell, I would suck big time as a dental assistant. I don't have the patience for it.

Edit: How did we get into this same topic on two completely unrelated threads? Let's get back on topic here. Sorry for going off course OP.

Re: OMG I forgot the 05 Viper

In most states people pay less than the asking price for a home.. Here in california it becomes a bidding war and the owners end up selling the place for 20-40k more than what they were asking.. It just keeps happening over and over again which is why the prices are skyrocketing here.
