Hello

i bought i Ty after 2 years of searching, a ty with some probs that is.

the engine isn't running strong and is smoking like a MOFO, this could be caused by several thing ofcourse, so i started a compression test.
one piston-ring is really bad (checked with oil above piston so no leaking there and is was goood).
allt he others are maximum

So my question is: can i screw of the carter-pan and take the whole thing down from under? i really hope so.(don't know the wright translation but i geuss you know what i mean)

another question.

when driving i hear several cracks in the drivetrain, i have the feeling that in coners the front and rear tires are sqeeuking beacause of the differatial isn't working, did annybody had that problem before??

Rene,

I don't think the Oil Pan will drop w the Front Differential in there. Then if U try to get just one piston out, U will have to remove the cylinder heads and everything above them in order to push out the piston.

I'm not sure whether U can drop the Crank and get the piston out the bottom because of the 1-piece Rear Main seal, which is bolted to the back of the block above the crank.

A shop would pull probably pull your engine to do all this.

On your Front end problems, U need to diagnose the problem to narrow down the possibilities, which R endless. The 1st thing I would do is check the steering linkage for play by jacking up the wheel and shaking it side to side, and then observing the linkage connection points for play. Then U can check the ball joints by shaking the wheels from top to bottom. The noise may also be loose Torsion Bars.

That isn't a happy Massage.

How long does it take to take the engine out?
and is it an easy job, i have pulled quite a few engines, but never a engine wich has such a full engine room :-?

anny other suggestions when i completly pull the engine out doing other stuff when an engine has 95K?

I had my engine out in 5 or so hours. If you are going to pull the engine out of it you might as well do a good rebuild on like new pistons, rings, rods, breaing and stuff like that so you dont have to do it all over again. Hell I had a bent rod and nver new it! So check things out.
