Just thought some of you would like to see the pictures.

I changed to a stiffer spring. It came of and out, then went together and back on again in half an hour.

I remember the first time I opened up an external gate with a HEAVY spring on it... almost broke my finger, shot the top of the gate across the garage.

The kids across the street learned new curse words that day.

Then i threw a wrench a zip code away, probably to be ran over by a lawnmower and shot at someone's ankle, in turn cursing ME out.

Huge... ?

I have a big gate.... (kind of the mine is bigger than yours thing)

I have a 60mm HKS GT Gate.... it is a monster.

LOL...

The spring on the right side gives me 11 psi base boost. It was quite hard to put it back. I'll try to get a harder spring (I wanna get 15 psi), it will be no fun to put it there...

Nick! Sent you an email!

falco, what spring rating are the two you have? I have the one on the left and mike was supposed to have included the 15# spring... I know its not gonna give me 15# base, but Im thinking I didnt get the right one.

What base did the both of them get?

I have pics of the inside of mine aswell.. Asked mike before dissasembling..."is it safe to remove the top of this thing.. is the spring gonna shoot the top at me?" Mike told me to forget about it and just take it apart.

It did however have a little tension to it. Nice stuff.. .too bad my cche dug into the pretty top a little.

the springs are color co-ordinated. The blue means 15psi. The red is like 10psi or something like that. Ian if you did not get the 15psi spring, but want one let me know. If you want a higher base, I have been told to double them up.

If you have the regular wide spring, you can increase boost by tightening the allen key on the top pf the gate, or by replacing the spring. I remember yours Ian was supposed to have a 15psi base, so it sounds like ITS may have labeled your gate wrong and you didnt receive the correct spring. You probably got the 7-9psi spring. Let me know.

I remember you mentioning the color co-ordination but I couldnt spot any color indications on the spring. It is definately the bigger one in the above picture.

Ian,

The smaller with the larger diameter gave me the least base boost (7psi), the taller one gives me 11 psi. Will check it for color codes once I'm home again this evening.

Interesting suggestion to put both in. Mike, do you have any experience how much base boost could we get this way?

FWIW dept..

I used a couple of longer allen head bolts to keep the "spring flying" thing from happening. Just take out two of the bolts that are around the top of the WG that are directly across from each other and replace em with the longer ones but dont tighten em, just "snug" them finger tight. Remove the rest of the allen bolts then slowly back out the two longer ones a few turns each at a time. You will notice when the spring tension is gone and can then just run the bolts all the way out.

Doing the above in reverse makes putting that 15psi base spring in 200% easier as you dont have all those loose parts/springs/whatever that are fighting you due to the spring pressure all the while you are trying to get a couple of the bolts started. I wrestled mine from one end of the work bench to the other putting in a 15psi base spring for a half hour before I figured that out.

Hopefully the above might save you from teaching the neighborhood kids how to cuss and how to throw tools  .

Oh yeah, anyone else try to make out what the newspaper under the WG said? Looks like Greek to me

Do you need a higher resolution picture? It's not Greek. It's just good old Hungarian.

There is definately some room to improve my photo composition skills...

Good idea with the longer screws, btw...

i dont have any first hand expirience with doubling the springs, so I cant really say. I will be at ITS today, so i will ask what they typically see for base boost with that spring combo.

Ok. Last night I checked the shorter spring for color codes, but couldn't find any. Since it was installed for a while it could come off eventualy...

the short wide spring looks like the stock one which I dont believe is supposed to have any color markings on it.

Finally Today I could pick out the WG from the truck again and check the spring in it. So the spring, which gave me 11 psi base boost has a color code blue.

BTW, I've put back both springs, so hopefully we will see how boost this will give me...

thats nice wastegate, Pro-gate? I got one too, its nice. I have changed the spring with it still mounted on the Typhoon. It wasn't that big of a deal, but I needed a friend to hold the spring down while putting the bolts on.

please keep us posted as to what the dual spring setup yields. The blue spring alone is supposed to be 15psi base, but things like backpressure and overall efficiency will have an effect on it.

No, that's an Innovative gate from Mike.

Mike,

Sure, will post here once I tested this setup...
