PING!!!

whats up...
i just finished puttin in my motor mount and took 'er for a spin.havent really beat on the truck for a while cause i knew the mounts were busted and the motor was trin to jump out of the truck.anyway...i took it for a ride and noticed theres a pingin when the power comes on.i havent heard it before but the tech that helped me do the mounts heard it too..soo,whats the problem of the week??....is there something common i should look for? i have plugs,wires,cap & rotor to go in the truck,just ran out of time tonight.will this cure my pinging or am i lookin at another issue??
any imput is GREATLY appreciated.
i run the best gas i can get here(93)-i recently put in a 180 t-stat(the stock 195 was stuck open)-and aside from the ping the truck screws...(and no more heavy vibration)-altho i do have a single(1) knock noise when i rev it just off idle..a single knock-though it was the m/m but itsa still there,cant seem to pin it down,yet.only does that in p or n...not in drive...dout its related but thought i would mention it
any help is appreciated

What kind of pinging? Detonation?

Do you have a datalogger such as Datamaster? If not find someone who does or sell it and buy a Honda.

Using your ears and butt (seat of the pants) tuning won't work well for these trucks

Many things can cause it. These trucks are prone to it.

Do some reading in the tuning section.

i have connected with someone on the board in my area that has a data system...it sounds like a pre-det pinging in the engine just before boost....it dident do it when the "stuck" open 195 was in there,but now that im gettin some good temp.(and heat)with the 180 its audible.im gonna try to connect with him next week.
im new and know i have to get it set up for proper diag. w/boost gauge,fuel pressure gauge,ect...im working my way down the"read me" list...
noticed last night the BOOB that tuned this up for the previous owner was a hack...spark plug wire all bound together and wire tied to the metal ic lines.gonna fix that this weekend...
i think i pinned the other noise down to the belt tensioner(hopfully)
