Polished Upper Intake Questions

I sold a stock upper and lower intake on ebay about a week ago. I have had the intakes for a couple years and to my knowledge they we unmodified. The buyer sent me a message that the upper intake had been polished.

Here is what the buyer said. " I bought this manifold because it was listed as origenal, and not port polished. And its polished, on top of that its over polished. for proper fuel atamizattion ports should never be sanded past 80 grit . this looks like 120. its not worth what I paid. max Ill pay is 200.00.

I just want to know if the part about fuel atomization is true?

I'm not an expert but of all the things I've had polished they were smooth as glass. Also how can atomization be relevant, to my understanding this only happens in the lower intake (where the fuel is - guys thoughts).

Judging by their lack of ability to spell and the way it's written my guess is they're simply trying to pull a fast one.

This sounds like total BS to me, but again <- No expert.

Re: Polished Upper Intake Questions

Tell him to go screw. Fuel atomization has NOTHING to do with the polishing of the upper intake and the difference between 80 and 120 is so negligible it is ridiculous. He is trying to pull a scam and if I had to guess his wife got onto him for buying parts so he is now looking for an easy way to get a discount.

I'd tell him to pound sand or give him my address and say pack a lunch cause its gonna take a while to kick my ass!

Yep. Atomization is air/fuel mixing. Fuel is introduced in the lower just BEFORE the heads.
This 'Timmy the Tool Time' mechanic needs to be schooled.

In the end, they are used parts. Tell him they were off of a Saudi Syclone and it was the sand filled air that did the polishing.

So tell him to send them back minus shipping and sell them to someone who isn't a goon.

Re: Polished Upper Intake Questions

id love to know how someone can tell the difference between using 80 grit and 120 on a high speed polisher in an intake. sure on nice flat sheet metal you may beable to tell- but not in an intake manifold. he is just trying to get money back

id tell him he can ship it back and you will refund the purchase price- but not the shipping after you receive itt

Re: Polished Upper Intake Questions

These are some of the same thoughts that I had. I offered for him to send it back to me, he pays shipping. This is usually what the ebay dispute resolution center does. I'm just tired of people jerking me around. I'm just trying to clean out the garage and people want screw around.
