blah blah blah, I did mine about 7 years ago, and although I was the first to use the trans am scoop Gary S. was the first to come up with the idea, period. I'm not talking about whos idea it was or not, fact is I did mine different than Garys to be different from everyone else. Now everyone and their grandmother has it. Some people have told me the copying is the greatest form of flattery, however when you do things to be different, the concept no longer works, so I'll just have to come up with something new.

Morgan, thanks for the props, my air inlet won Most Innovative Mod KC '98. You want to do something new and unique, how about a motorized inlet that opens and closes with an electric solenoid controlled off of boost. Kind of like the intakes on a Murcielago or Gallardo that opens according to demand?

Gary

If you want to do this. just use a old syty wastegate and have that as your actuator for the door. plumb it into the boost line and there ya go. opens underboost and the spring pressure will close it back. I'm sure you have most of those parts just laying around the shop.

Re: Post a pic of your truck taken today

I have changed the way they are positioned with the holes being vertical. If cinder blocks are so bad then why is there a bunch of mobile homes being supported by them across this great country.

I have been a FireFighter for 10yrs now and we have never got a call due to mobile homes turning over or collapsing due to the blocks under them have giveing way.

But good eyes guys

As a Structural Engineer, I'm going to answer this (and yes, I know the subject is dead, but I'm cruising through this thread and living vicariously, so lemme be :rotf:)

There are two problems with the use of concrete or cinder blocks when supporting a vehicle: they aren't sufficient for load bearing with their cores laid horizontally (and will crush without warning), and even when used vertically, the distribution of load across the top face of the block has to be even in order to avoid point loading which can shear and collapse the block.

There is an acceptable way to use cinder/concrete block for the purpose, but why bother? By the time one sets it up to allow them to be used safely, you're better off with ramps.

There ya go! ;)

Well it was a wintery mess here in NJ yesterday but didn't stop me from putting two coats of wax on the Typhoon yesterday and today. Here are some pics from today, enjoy:
