Cool thread...that I just tumbeled upon today.The funny thing is a had the same idea for an LT1/4 Blue w/White Center stripe ala the GS LT4...all before I got the Ty.It looks much nicer than what mine woulda turned out. Congrats...I bet your ready to finish it up and drive it. Any mods done to the LT1?

potted, polished, gasket matched, cc502 cam, msd blaster coil, etc. Nothing major.

Here is part of the issue I think. I am going to run the Stock Typhoon center console and shifter, but I cant run the stock Typhoon steering column. I have to use the 85 steering column which doesn't have the cable that runs to the shifter, therefore I cant have the neutral safety switch in the truck because it all plugs into the column. I suppose I need to bypass it.

Any me how I know the difference between the 85 and 92 steering columns.... What a PITA!!

The base of the steering columns will come apart and can be swapped if you want to use your newer column. I have done the swap myself, it's pretty easy.

Update... The truck was painted a little over a month ago now and I have been SOOO busy. Working 6 day weeks ever since it was painted. Trying to spend time with the family and my four kiddos...

Anyway, I ran into an issue. I have the truck painted and want to bring it home. PROBLEM. I dont have room yet. I need to finish the shop in the back yard so that i can empty the garage and move everything into the workshop. This means I need to FINISH THE WORKSHOP... So that is what I have been working on for the last few weeks... almost daily.

Slowly but surely!

Its wet sanding and buffing time. Suck.

You can see here, the right part is cut and buffed, the left side is not. Look at the reflection of the light in it. The right is like a mirror, the left side looks good, but not a mirror finish. The buffed part looks AWESOME!

I have a few places to go over. I need to repaint the grille as the stripes are a bit off and the top is a bit dry.
Here is where I burned through a stripe on the hood while sanding its mirror smooth. Suck.

The truck looks so sad sitting there under all that dust. sniff sniff

Best I can remember, the cable you're talking about actually justs locks the shifter in park when the key is in the off position.

Yes, you are right. On my 1st S-10 engine swap I put a console and shifter for a 89 Trans Am and just didn't use this cable. The neutral safety switch was still on the shifter at that time. The truck is looking really good Greg.

Been a while, but I know the column splits in the middle where it looks like the bottom piece slides in to the upper piece. I'm thinking there is some kind of clip at the bottom, and then you can pull the pieces apart. Takes some work as they are in there tight, but they will come apart. Then just put it back together with the pieces you need. But have the truck there so you can set it in place as you put it back together so you get the base lined up properly, I didn't the first time and had to pull it apart again.

I put my door handles in the blast cabinet and cleaned them up a bit. I plan to paint the body colored to match.

I also decided to pull the intake and paint it red when it get it back home. It will match the fender hash marks, look cool and look like the Grand Sport's LT4.

So back to the nightmare of the wiring. This is a project that I think I have concluded is over my head. I either need to break down a pay someone to do it (which I don't have the funds for), but a new harness from a company like Painless ( which I don't have the funds for), find a buddy who knows A LOT about vehicle wiring and electrical systems who can help me, or buy ANOTHER truck to strip and copy the wiring on it, or just give up and pull out the Ty harness and go back with the old 85 Jimmy harness with no power accessories like the Ty has and no Typhoon/SoGT gauges. I am SOO frustrated with the truck now.

I installed the lights and re-ran all the front end harness wires.

Well, we have light! Headlights work, the stalk on the steering column broke and the high beams are stuck on, the blinkers aren't working either, but we have markers and running lights. The brake light switch is busted as well so I don't know if they work either. What a PITA.

And the shop is near completion. A guy is coming to finish the drywall next week. Im painting his truck for his as a trade. There are some good perks to managing a paint and body shop. heh Anyway, I finished all the wiring in it. The list... Front room has 8 20amp outlets, one ceiling mount tv outlet, two runs of CAT5 cable, one coax cable, one dedicaded A/C circuit, four dual T8 bulb fixtures, one ceiling fan, an alarm keypad, alarm motion sensor and door sensors. The back room has 6 20amp outlets, two dual T8 fixures, a ceiling fan mount, and an alarm motion sensor. And the outside has a motion light and one 20amp outlet. Not bad for a backyard "shed".

i always thought it was cool to do. somehow relaxing, and less frustrating than stuff that won't fit or ''barely'' fits.

I have the diagrams, but dont understand them all. The Ty wiring diagrams are 14 pages long as opposed to the 85 Jimmy which is 6 pages. lol

My Tyclone has the computer under the hood for the LT1. The Typhoon has one under the dash... Do I need the Ty computer for the harness to work??? I know I dont need it for the truck to run.

i think you might need it for the gauges and all that stuff, or check the outputs/inputs on the lt1 box, if they are the same you could rewire it in.

Bummer, I HATE wiring ... my 67' has sat for YEARS because I dont want to deal with rewiring it ... and the TTA is starting to have little glitches. I hope I dont have to send her to the pasture also!!!

Why didnt you go with a roll up garage door for your shed, so you could get a car in it?! ---

There isnt enough room to get a car back there. I know, sad but true. Thats what the garage and driveway are for.

A laptop with a video camera and Skype or some other live video would be a world of help. You could scan the laptop around the harness ect... and Ty0331 could rattle off what it is/where it needs to go and or what to do with it. hth

I could help you with your wiring. I know this stuff without looking at the diagrams. If you have a complete 92 Typhoon interior wiring, including doors, cross body, and main IP harness, we can get this done in an evening or two.

I may be able to help you by "remote control", but having done a couple of these in the past, it's a LOT of typing and can be frustrating. Easier if you go as far as you can, and then we can see what you need from there.

I live in Los Angeles, but travel frequently, always by car. I am planning a trip for May that could work this in. PM me your phone, and best times to call, if you're interested.

I dont think its a big deal honestly, Im just not an electrical guru. It was running fine with the 85 Jimmy harness. I gutted the ENTIRE interior of a 92 Typhoon and started to swap it all over. One of the issues is that I gutted the Typhoon 3 years ago. So its all in now BUT I dont have the neutral safety switch hooked up since its a different transmission in it with the LT1. So I read the diagrams, found where it is and what colors, but cant find the wires in the truck. There are ALOT of wires. Ack.

Another issue. *gulp* is that the Typhoon had an alarm system installed. That scares me.
