Quick question about tranny surround trim piece

Don't taze me bro!
The part in question is the black trim piece that surrounds the transmission shifter. To get this off do you just pull it up or is there some sort of fastener holding it in? Thanks.

you have to remove the shifter handle first.

carefully pry the shifter button out with a small flat screwdriver. Once that pops out, you will need a pair of snap ring pliers to remove the retaining ring. then the shifter knob will slide off.

next, you will find 2 phillps head screws in the forward cup holder. remove both of those screws and lift on the front of the trim piece. The back end is held down with a tab that slides under the gray part of the console, once you slide it forward it will pop out also.

then with a little creative twisting and lifting, it will come right out.

It does but I no longer have a cup holder. It looks like this and so I guess I'll have to wait until I hear back from the previous owner as to how to take it all apart.

That looks like they have attached it from the back side.

In that case you might have to lift the entire console to get to the back of that plate.

Hopefully the previous owner has a shortcut for you.
