quick question for you GEAR heads

haha i was just wondering how do 3.73s work in the typhoons? its a basicly stock truck i know i have to change front and rear but would he help spool turbo any faster or wouldnt be that much of a difference going from 3.42 to 3.73? the reason im asking is i can get 3.73's for my truck cheaper than 3.42s and my ring and pinion is SHOT 4 teeth missing

Its not worth it. IMO it will slow you down because you will be force to a 3-4 upshift in the 1/4 mile. If you over gear a car especailly a low reving motor, the ET time will suffer. I beleive a syty is on the border of over gearing, our first gear only ges to 25mph. I personally beleive a syty might be quicker ET wise (though it may not feel quicker) if it had a 3.23 especailly as mods are done.

3.73 is the wrong direction, go 3.23 or 3.08

But what if i wanna set my truck up to run in the 1/8th.... :roll:

3.73 would make you blast the tires even more off the line.

also would make you out of the power curve that much sooner.

even with a 412 cam and 3.42 or 3.08 gears these trucks only see the sweet spot of the power curve at launch.
