Im looking at a Ty and for the first time I test drove one... do these vehicles normally shift hard and do I normally hear, what the owner describes as hydrollic lifters, "ticking" from the engine? Its a beautiful machine that was well kept w/82000 miles and hes asking 12. web pictures can be found at http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...2006&start_year=1981&isp=y&lang=en&cardist=17

actually its just one picture but you get the idea... please let me know since I am in the middle of negotiatins with this gentlemen at this time.

What are some things I should look for when looking at this rig?
Thanks!

LOL, hydrollic lifters.

It is the injecters and its totally normal.

If it didn't shift hard, i'd be concerned...hard shifts are a sign the tranny is in decent shape.

Sounds like the truck is in good shape.

Re: Quick question...

Is there anything I should look for? Signs that will point out possible problems or concerns? This was my first Ty to test drive and while the owner seems honest I just want to make sure there's not anything worng with the vehicle that even he isn't aware of.

Thanks!

Re: Quick question...

Yeah I appreciate that very much. I've learned quite a bit already but would definitely appreciate some assistance from a veteran. I'll keep you in mind. Thanks again!

I wouldn't exactly call me a veteran, but I know what to look for. The datamaster will tell you more than anybody ever could.

There is allot of littleton guys around lately. You will most certainly become a great mechanic owning one of these gems. BTW Did you guys ever see my ty driving around that town? That's where mine came from.

Re: Quick question...

The injector ticking can be easily corrected by loosening the fuel rail bolts (4) and adjusting the rails to where the injector housings don't sit up against the lower intake. It sounds like rockers ticking, but it's most likely the fuel rails just need adjustment. Been there, done that.
