Rebuild Q's

My cousin David and I are starting the rebuild on #2955 soon and we're looking at differnt set-ups.

1. Bore her .030 over, use 6" rods w/ a recessed pin piston.

2. Go .030 over, 5.7" rods w/ standard pin piston.

3. Don't bore but hone, and either combination of rods/pistons listed above.

The 5.7" rods are Lunati, the 6" rods are Eagle.

We're going w/ roller rockers at this point, but I need to know if 1.6's would work w/ guide plates on L35 heads. Yes, we're getting better pushrods.

Hopefully, this will start the 21st. TIA.

BTW, Joey Allen, if you'ld like to see it happen, Dave says "Come on by."

my 2 cents:
You better bore it .030 always start with a fresh round bore.
With a motor that never sees over 5500 rpm and has forced induction
I don't think you will realize the benifit of the 6"rod. like a high rpm
long overlap camshaft engine will. The 4.3 already has a pretty good rod ratio
so cylinder filling is not a issue. I also do not like to use the ring seats
for the oil ring on street forced induction engines, that you must use when you go with the 6" rod.
IMO that you should stay with the proven combination 5.7 rod, and JE,
wiesco or srp pistons.
You might even lose some torque with the 6" rod but I am not 100% sure on that.

Well, Dave thinks in terms of naturally aspirated (carbs) high-rev race SBC.
He runs Late Model dirt track, and builds his own carbs, as he used to work for Barry Grant here locally.

Ok, 5.7's w/ standard pistons it is.

Now, how about 1.6 roller rockers on L35's, that a go or no-go?
