Be advised guys this engine is not an original ST / TY engine. He says the crank is. The turbo is. The original tranny,as he purchased it, is a GM replacement, before the modifications were done. The paint job was accomplished with the cladding still installed. The heads have been shaved and the block deck height lowered. The camshaft is a custom. The original SY rims have been sold and he offers a set of S10 rims with the truck. The propshaft is history as well as the converter; you will have to have new ones. The engine and all underhood items are not installed. They are out of the truck. The truck is not exactly in New Orleans either. Somewhere between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
Please notice he has changed his ID and has no feedback ratings listed. His first name is George. By the way, he runs an external fuel pump with adjustable regulator too. Speed Pro pistons of unknown origin. He had the engine built and assembled at a machine shop near his home. That's about all I can remember from our phone conversation. I'm still waiting on some pictures he was going to email me.
:D :)

Does anyone else have any more information on this Syclone or know the seller or of him?
I would like to get all the information I can.

Truckless. For now.
boy, and i thought my stock Ty rides high. that thing looks like it's riding at regular 4wd S-15 height. Almost looks like it's on big block springs waiting for the motor.

I called him at the phone number he had listed on ebay. He seemed willing to talk in depth about the truck. He said something about a divorce and he had to get rid of the truck fast. He said he could not leave Louisiana until his divorce was over. He was somewhat knowledgeable about Syclones. I was worried about the engine modifications he has done. The lack of a propshaft, torque converter, the tranny modifications and the missing Sy wheels turned me off to the truck. At least at the price it's going for now. By the way the paint is not perfect. He mentioned orange peel in some locations. He was drag racing it regularly before the propshaft blew on him at the track. He disconnected it and continued to drive it. He says the front differential is OK. I remember him mentioning needing sensors to make the dash gauges all work. I can't remember the tire sizes he was running, but they weren't the standard SY sizes. He said he was using equivalent circumference sizes but not the stock size. I remember him mentioning something about Camaro size tires or something like that. I talked with him for quite a while and will post other things I remember as I think of them. :)

Do you think i should take a chance on it? I can certainly put it together, but this will be my first sy/ty if i do. As for the paint etc, I don't mind. I'm just wondering about different circumstances I could run into... ? Question about torque converters - can I use a regular 700r4 torque converter or should I order one from APR how much would that run me? What should I expect to spend on a nice propshaft? 400 - 500? And how much could one of those sensors run me? Sorry about all the questions I just need to have all my details down before I make a purchase. Thank you

Well the way I see it, how much are you willing to spend to get it street worthy after you haul it all the way to Virginia? The biggest problem is to get it running decent, with the mods he has done. This might get expensive. He says he has the stock cam that you could replace for the one he installed. Someone could then run the stock chip, so he says. But I don't know if it will run stock with shaved heads and the block deck lowered. The propshaft, torque converter, tires, rims, etc. All this starts to get expensive quick.
I don't have or want to spend that much money on something that is not already assembled and running. Too many variables.
 :)

The propshaft and torque converter i'm looking at about 800 dollars (unless im misinformed)
the tires and rim's I don't know the price on. How much could I get a decent set of Zr-1's for? Or should I get the stock syclone rims? Tires I have a pretty nice hookup on. I don't mind it not riding stock, but I don't quiet know how it would run with the current mods it has. As for money I have maybe another 5000 to spend on it if I pick it up. How much should I spend on the truck itself though? Putting it together, I don't mind. I just want to know what i'd be dealing with with the shaved heads and lowered block deck.
Thanks

Look, that truck and engine combo is a NHRA stock eliminator deal.... the block, heads, intake. crank, rods ect have to be within a certain specification.. the camshaft also has to be within the stock lift, but can have the duration altered as well as the fuel injection, turbo output, headers added, gears changed ect... changed to anything that bolts up and is gm spec... IE, you can bolt in a 12 bolt gm rear end assy, as long as it was offered on a gm vehicle... The last one I saw in the NHRA newspaper that was for sale, it ran 10.4 sec in the quarter and was for sale for $35,000. (A syclone) It did have sy wheels on it though.... This truck that is for sale, does it have a TITLE, and is it street legal/or can it be street legal????

Haven't found out yet.
I e-mailed the owner in hopes of a response, none yet.
Asked about Title etc, who knows. The vin matches up to a 1991 gmc syclone

When I spoke with him he said it had a clear original title. He said he was preparing it to run NHRA , not that he indeed had run in stock eliminator class yet. He has run on dragways with it before he started the complete rebuild. Again, anyone interested should do like I did, call him. His phone number is listed at the bottom of the page on ebay. :D :D

..."its got a syty intake so its a syty......"

Ummmm yeah..
