Remote Oil filter connection to the block

I think my gasket there must be blown out. It's pissing out oil there like a sieve. Anyone have this problem and is there anything to changing it other than unbolting it and putting on a new one? Any input would be appreciated.

it's a simple R&R. just an oring and gaasket upinside the block.

I have had the hose assembly begin to leak at the rubber to alum connection, but not the block connection.

i had the adaptor-block o-ring go bad on mine. I was 30 mines from home and blew oil all over the back of my truck.

Dont bother going to GM for the part either, they want like $5 just for the one lousy O-ring. You can go to NAPA and get the same part PLUS all the other O-rings for the entire system (i think 2 are missing) and gaskets you'll need for like $2-$3.

As far as changing it, it was easy to do when I pulled the motor out on the '92, but when I did it on the '93 years ago, that wasnt an option.

I think I even left the propshaft in, but I do remember going all the way in from the front along the oil pan with a long extention and a swivel socket, that was the hardest part.

Also make sure you get all of the old gasket removed. Its kinda shaped like a "D" and half of it usually gets stuck to the block.

also, the 2 bottom bolts will get torqued to 15 ft lbs. when reinstalling. DO NOT overtighten.

I think your stealer was trying to hose you.. I went the local chevy place with part number in hand.. they have kit with the gasket and ring.. I think it was $1.83?

I have the lines off right now, just the figure 8 part where the lines fasten into the adapter... On the filter side there was a little crush ring gasket on each end, but there were none on the block end of the lines. Was there supposed to be? I had no leaks with it the way it was, but I dont remember seeing any when I took the motor out, now I notice them on the filter side.

there are supposed to be gaskets at evey junction. the gaskets type depends on the lines you have. if they have a reciever groove then u use those little black o rings. if you dont have that groove then u use the large crush rings.

I got a perfect oil line off of an 88 4x4 blazer yesterday. Do you happen to know the part # of the NAPA gasket kit cuz the parts guys around here are real lazy and would rather look for 2 mins and tell me "we don't stock that part" than actually spend some time looking for it.

thanks
